Scholes is insufferable.

Man.U probably are favourites because of their history and know how to win as a club absolutely but that suits us fine put the pressure on them and something feels different this season kind of like the Ramos league cup win season, random up and down or mostly down league form but enough quality to win a cup.

I’m not having a go at you at all here personally mate but this general premise, most of it is utter nonsense and self fulfilling prophecy.

The reason it becomes a thing is primarily because the fans believe the narrative and fall in to it. So for us that means nervous energy and constantly doubting ourselves. That in turn feeds in to the players and the club. Likewise Utd fans are so arrogant they don’t believe they can lose and that feeds in to their players.

At the end of the day, this group of Utd players and Spurs players who step out on to that pitch have absolutely nothing to do with either clubs history. Neither do the management teams.

We cannot fall in to this trap. This is a one off game against a team we have beaten 3 times already this season. They are bang average and we will beat them. All of us, every single one of us should believe that to our core and feed that energy to the players and the club!

Since Fergie left, both clubs are very different. The United aura is long gone and we've beaten them very regularly. I am not worried about them at all. We just have to find a way that works on the day to play to our strengths without Maddison and Bergvall and to nullify theirs, which is largely dependent on Fernandes.

I want the whole club to approach this like we can win it. Get properly focused. I felt with the Champions League final we were there for the experience whereas Liverpool were there for the win.
I think, in regards to this, that Paratici (although not officially working for us, is certainly in the building) will bring a level of professionalism behind the scenes that were so obviously/badly missing last time around.
Or at least, I hope so. ie, don’t let Daniel COYS on the pitch for the team photo.

We’ve beaten them over the last 2 seasons in the exact same way by outrunning and overpowering their midfield.

Fernandes is by far their biggest threat but but their other options in midfield have no legs. They’ll probably look to play a lot of balls over the top and play from deep but if we play how we did away at Bodo or at Frankfurt we’ll nullify that threat and I back us to hurt them on the counter.

Bissouma and Bentancur inexplicably finding form in Europe has been a bit of a godsend and if they turn up how they have the last few EL games then we’re in a really strong position. We seem to have found a frontline that kind of works with Richarlison on the left supporting Solanke then whoever plays on the right. We need Kulusevski to get back into form in the next 3 weeks so hopefully that is just a match-fitness issue.

Back 4 basically picks itself now, expect we’ll rotate a bit in the next 3 weeks to keep everyone fresh and sharp. So different to 2019 as we’ve got recent results on our side and the game isn’t weeks after the season finished. My big fear is that **** Cash crocking someone at Villa more than anything else.

The post game speech from Ange to the team was absolutely spot on. Enjoy the moment, but then we've got 2 weeks to prepare and beat Utd.

I think there was a real sense of excitement about making a CL final, whereas Liverpool were all business and focused on winning it - that's where we need to be.

Richy on the left has been effective. If Kulu hits form, I'm extremely confident that we'll get the job done.

We'd started to beat them regular in Fergie's last days. Clint Dempsey and AVB on the Old Trafford touchline. Man Utd's aura is long gone, despite how much Sky with their Overlap crowd bleat on about it. They've been whining "this isn't the Man Utd we know" for 15 years now. 15 years. They've been shit now for nearly as long as they were good.

Ignore their noise. We'll have them.

I like Richy a lot, but I think some of his decision making is poor. He had two excellent opportunities in that wide left position to really drive and shoot, or play in Udogie, and on both occasions he gave it away.

In general I find that to still be a hugely frustrating part of our game. We continue, when there's an opening to really go at them, to instead check back and recycle... which puts the receiver under unnecessary pressure. And we get moments like where Biss hurriedly gives it away and they have a shot from the half way line. Speculative as that instance may be, we still give up chances way too soft.

We may have been organised and professional last night, but we didn't need to get out of second gear against a frankly poor team. Not to denigrate Bodo's efforts this season, but honestly... they, and Frankfurt and Alkmaar, are levels below the usual Premier League opposition we've faced this season. Not to downplay our efforts either... but we haven't been playing particularly different in these Europa games... we've just not been punished as much when we've given up the same chances we always do.

What I'm getting at is that nothing has changed tbh. I still think we'll beat Man Utd because they are, again, worse than us. But this team, without Madds, Bergvall, Spence or even an in form Son, do need to play better than we did last night.

This does absolutely not make winning the tournament a lesser achievement.

But neither should it be allowed to paper over the cracks of how poorly we actually play. If Ange gets a third season (which I think he will tbh) then it must be used as the next step of evolution to improving how we play. Ideally with some far better footballers being signed.

The points you've raised here were my biggest frustrations last night and in other games. When we maraud forward, instead of finishing it off with aggression, we check back and kill the moves. When we break forward, at the very least you expect to trouble the keeper.

And Richy has to be more decisive and make better choices about when to pass to an overlapping runner and when to shoot first time. He makes the wrong choice far too often.

He’s playing how I thought he would when we very first signed him as there was an intention to partner him with Kane how he is with Solanke.

He's such a workhorse he lightens the pressing workload for Solanke which in turn lets Solanke play with more freedom. Then we add both of their aerial threat to the box which makes it harder for teams to defend crosses.

Amorim will probably go with a back 3 so we might get a flavour of how our current setup works against that against Palace on the weekend assuming Glasner sets up as he usually does.

If Kulusevski hits form and puts in a performance against United like he did at Old Trafford then agree we should do it this time.

Enjoy the moment, savour it. We've got a huge opportunity to do something massive now as a club. Something we've all been crying out for, for almost 20 years.

I don't care if we win with a goal off Harry Maguires arse in the final, the result is all that matters.
So much to agree with in your post, but I can't go along with the bolded bit. Our journeyman players bore the life out of me..Did you see the dreadful Spammers match ?
What's happening for me is there are so few moments of skill from us that I find myself admiring the oppo when they do something
unexpected or smart. I couldn't stop the thought that it was a shame that excellent last minute Ward-Prowse free kick wasn't a few inches to the right.

Further my strategic thinking has changed. These journeyman players are mid to low Prem quality. We have 'no money' we hear. What do all lower Prem sides need as a minimum to stay up ? Energy, Intensity. What is the one side of Prem management that Ange has down ? Motivating players. Maybe he's just the kind of man we need at the helm. Haha the most Ange out poster here in a 180 !!

Anyway thank you for engaging with me , I expected a sea of red . There was a Moura bump recently and seeing him get the fantastic mazy dribbled goal vs Leeds as his last kick for us and the utter joy of the other players (and me) for him chokes me up anew. Where's it all gone ?

The narrative is going to be all around Man Utd for the next fortnight. How they need to win.

No. They need to lose. That club, from their fanbase to the class of fucking '92, need to be proper humbled. To experience being fully shit. To suffer. So they can be finally broken out of that insufferable hubris and entitlement that they've been strutting around with since the mid 90s. 100% fuck them, their plastic fans, their Theatre of (broken) Dreams. I know we have direct London rivals, but Man Utd are the one club I absolutely cannot stand.

And we will beat them.
I’m from the NW so I’m with you there 100%
