Benoit Assou-Ekotto should have returned to Hotspur Way for pre-season on Monday, along with the rest of our World Cup participants, but instead the Cameroonian is training alone in France.

I've been tough on BAE even before he moved to QPR and I'm not a big fan of him as a player. But this sort of stuff serves nobody well. Why is our club involved in this type of setting employees aside with BAE now and Adebayor not so long ago.

Surely he can be brought in to train, maybe even contribute, or we can pay out the remainder of his contract and let him be a free agent. Can we not behave like grown ups even if he himself is the root of the problem. It's the type of thing that'll stick to the club if we make a habit of it.

he was dead to me as a Tottenham player after the whole Liverpool tweeting incident. fuck him, I really couldn't care less what he does or doesn't do now as long as I never have to see him in a Spurs shirt again.

Grr. The article is titled 'Is BAE being marginalised by Spurs?' ie. They don't know anything really. They read the hash tags on he's post and 'jumped the gun' (their own words)

To be fair he was a good player for us and definitely a fan favourite for a long time. New manager comes in and makes him surplus after a good few years and he is then on the scrap heap.

Wouldn't anyone else be a little pissed if you were him? If he's been asked to stay away from training whilst they find him a move is that anything to slate him for?

Thanks for the service Benny, the Quenelle was dumb I'm sure it wasn't intended as a slant at jews. Good luck in the future

What an awful snidey little article that is.

The writer has extrapolated all that detail from 4 words and a whole load of guesswork while injecting it with just the right amount of opinion to create a perfect clickbait soup.

Benny was a solid player for us but he seems to gravitate towards controversy. His natural arrogance (which footballers often need) coupled with lack of interest in the team as a whole has left him a a man without a country.

Nobody has aired what has gone on behind closed doors but it seems strange for MP to kick him out without even meeting him. I guess they are worried about him having a negative impact on the squad.

Still no reason for all the hate and overreaction.

Less vulnerable than Rose and good backup for Davies. Shame.

Lost any likeness or respect for Benny and Adebayor after that tweet. What grates me, is Adebayor was welcomed back. Even some of my Spurs mate, wonder why I hate Adebayor so much.

Mercenary ****, springs to mind!

I believe he failed a medical for a permanent transfer last year? He is a joker like Sandro. If we want top 4 and more we need dedication.

I was never a fan of Ade in the past but I think me has matured a lot and is still one of the best strikers about. We couldn't of signed him when he left Madrid as we would have had been after Champions League, too higher wages etc. We have him now and he is banging them in with a below par level of supply (sign Konoplyanka). Should be a good season from Ade but another quality option would be nice though.

Also still don't get the big deal of the post Liverpool game twitter post.

I thought everyone already knew this but it appears not. The Tweet at the Liverpool game with Benny and Ade holding their fingers up had no reference to the result. It was the exact pose the two of them did in many other photos together. Just two fools trying to look gangster.

If anything the photo shows two players who had been isolated by the manager coming along to support their team.

The trouble is it sets a precedent. If players know we'll pay up their contract if they want out they'll deliberately cause trouble and get ostracised.
Having said that we don't know if this is actually the case. As a few posters have commented, this is all speculation.

I've heard that we're offering Rose a new contract (unfortunately), which would clearly mean no place for BAE in the squad now that we have brought a left back in

Ive never got the impression that Sandro is anything but professional when he is on the pitch.
