Until they ban Athletic ability in football, I’d be happy to take him if it does the job! What a stupid thing to say. You wouldn’t say oh if he didn’t have a footballing brain he’d be rubbish would you?

You really think Cantwell & Godfrey are 50ml players? Get a grip of yourselfs
I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is if athletic ability helps you to defend well. I’d be happy with it. You can’t detract from it as an attribute. It isn’t something that is restricted in football. Can you understand? Which is why it annoys me when people say “oh if he wasn’t quick he wouldn’t be good”. I

Simple reality is Norwich will get relegated and they will be forced to sell some players. Some players will push for a move, Godfrey is young and has a reasonable amount of interest in him.

So his price will be quite high. I am not completely sold on him and believe we are already well stocked in young centre backs. Would only buy him if he's seen as first team quality now for a team with our ambitions.

Tbh although it is the two fullbacks who seem to get all the hype (and having watched them several times this year I have no idea why), Godfrey looks the standout young English player in that back 4.

Can't help but wonder why we seem to have been linked with the entire back line of the side rooted to the bottom of the table?

Maybe because they can be good and wouldn't say that 2 players are entire back line

At least three of Norwich’s squad would improve us (Aarons, Godfrey, Cantwell). I’m not fussy about where we go shopping, within reason.

I really like him plus the two full backs but they're awful defensively so what do I know.

Lewis doesn't get anywhere near enough attention. He could easily play the Davies role.

We need to be very specific in our purchases when Vertoghen leaves we'll have no natural left footed defender at our club imo that's negligent. Godfrey is he left footed... I believe Ake at Bournemouth is a better fit.

although we had been linked to him for a long time, it may be consistent with dragon1's ITK deleted yesterday, stating something like we are going for orange (dutch?), not so sure as i missed the post

Gabriel is the player linked that best fits the bill there, left footed and has the physical presence required. In truth, I actually think Dier has done a decent job at LCB so far, he looks more comfortable than when we’ve played Toby or Davinson there. Jan is going to be a big miss, albeit his decline has been slightly alarming, on his day he is imperious.

Aurier and Sanchez have plenty of athletic ability and get slated on here week in, week out. Walker was a prime example of using his pace to get out of trouble (usually of his own making). IMO the biggest asset for any defender is positional awareness ans ability to read the game. Don't really know how much of that Godfrey has.
