From the little I’ve watched of him he definitely caught my eye as a classy player. No idea if he’s any good at defending though, which is quite important.

I've watched him and he doesn't dominate and is weak. Yes he looks potentially good but he needs to get the mentality part and more strength.

Look at the best central defenders down the years, they all have a huge determination to win the ball. Don't see it in this guy yet.

Is he any good? Haven't watched him this season, all I know is Norwich have conceded 32 goals in 15 games & we're reportedly after 2 of their back 4. Doesn't feel me with much encouragement first glance.

we need a right back - that way our DM wouldn't need to play RB because Aurier leaves massive amounts of space open and compromises the rest of the backline.

Throw 35mil at Nice for Atal and see if they blink. They’re bottom half of the table, go see if they’d rather allocate those funds to better the rest of their team.

Yup. The teams we can buy from in January, without paying huge fees, are smaller teams (easier outside England) that can be bullied because of financial issues and getting players from teams that don't play them (like Moura). Otherwise we could try to secure someone for free in the summer and pay them a small amount now, but that rarely works.

It's not looking bright either way. Maybe loaning someone if we really need it (I don't know what Mourinho's stance is on this for the season).

Norwich might be the type of team who want to sell one player to buy a couple in order to stay in the league, so you never know. Doubt he'd be worth as much if they went down.

If we could get Godfrey in January and loan them Tanganga for 6 months that would be perfect.

Godfrey is one for the future. Would like to see us go for Dunk, just turned 28, experienced, tall and stocky, and has been in fantastic form this season. He’s got a good 4 years left in the tank.

Don't really see how that could work. What would we be offering? Surely not more than 30 million. Promotion meant a 160 million windfall for Norwich, why would they give up one of their better defenders for money they already have?

Hmm - that doesn't suggest to me that you're aware of how that works.

They don't win the Championship and then get given more than the PL winners - it just means that their minimum finishing prize money + parachute payments are that.

Their net spend this summer (their first summer in the PL for donkey's years) was £2.5m. And that's not because of sales.

They will be looking to buy players to keep them in the league (and get a further guaranteed £100m in future prize money), and they don't appear to have that without trading in.
