I'd say bring Sessegnon in but given how we're tactically set up, it'd be harsh to drop Aurier after such a performance so he may have to wait.

Gutted for the lad - he really impressed against West Ham, and with Rose’s form out the window, this was his chance

This is could be a blessing in disguise as it’s a perfect opportunity to play Jan LB. Sanchez needs to play is he will improve under Jose and is our future.

so far, JM seems to have got virtually all of the team selection decisions spot on, even substitutions. Lets hope he realises /has noted Danny Rose's form and selects either Jan or Sess at LB pending Ben's return.

Awful news for him, having just come back from injury.

If necessary, I think I'd rather Jan as cover for Rose. Just don't think Sessegnon is particularly good at the back from what I've seen of him. Looks much better further forward.

Only just got fit after that hernia operation. Goodness knows how long he will be out, won’t see him again this year I wouldn’t of thought.

Feel sorry for Ben, hopefully he comes back stronger

Now Vertonghen should play LB when Aurier plays RB and Sessegnon should play LB when Foyth plays RB

I love Danny Rose but his time should be up

This is horrendous timing. Actually think Ben is perfect for the system Mourinho has played so far and would’ve excelled. He’s a great defender and comfortable tucking into a back three. If we’re going to continue chucking Aurier high up the pitch we’re really struggling for a good enough defender at left back now. Might have to make Jan play there. Or try the switch reverse with Foyth at RB and Sess at LB.

Big blow for Jose! I’m not a BD fan but I’m sure Jose was. Perfect for him. Dependable/solid player and isn’t bothered about getting forward

Might force his hand into buying a defender or 2 in January

God knows what he’s made of Sess defensively!

Real shame as he was just getting back to full fitness after a niggling injury had been impeding him.

And he was having a really good spell when previously fully fit and would much prefer him to Rose at left back given recent performances.

Let's hope Rose bucks up (or Vertonghen perhaps is used as defensive left back).
