since winning at Fulham on 19-Jan 2019 it's been

Burnley lost 2-1 --- 1st goal conceded very sloppy from a corner, THAT SHOULD OF BEEN A GOAL KICK.
Chelsea lost 2-0 --- We deserved to lose
Southampton lost 2-1 --- we should have been out of sight 1st half, but that player that gets paid a wage between the sticks kept them in it. We got lucky just before they got their winner though, the defender should have been sent off that conceded the free kick that was taken 5yards closer
Liverpool lost 2-1 --- 1st half Liverpool deserved to lead, 2nd half we deserved to take a minimum of a point, but Lloris threw it away
Man City lost 1-0 --- never took our chances, but City deserved it overal
Bournemouth lost 1-0 --- I think being down to 9 men definitely helped Bournemouth

2019-20

Man City drew 2-2 --- a very lucky point, we should of been battered
Arsenal drew 2-2 --- brain fart Rose
Leicester lost 2-1 --- who knows what the result would be if Rose gets a penalty

2 points from a possible 27. This is not just a poor run, what do the players and Pochettino need to do to turn this around

might as well get involved if we are having a thread moaning. I will put my excuses (which are FACTs) in the quoted, please tell me my errors,

sometimes in life you need LUCK. we suffered big time because of LUCK, BAD LUCK injuries, tiredness and all the other reasons I've stated in the other 30 meltdown threads posted after every bad result, and the funniest thing is last seasons results don't matter anymore they are HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Just put it this way, especially with the way we are now we could potentially lose to anyone away from home.

I actually find it worrying that it's not even like we're being thrashed or majorly outplayed in these games, yet we're so often second best each time. That's what makes it seem like it's some sort of deeper rooted problem.

I feel like I'm heading into that mental state of just acknowledging and accepting that we're not that great right now and are in more of a transition than I thought. Time will tell I guess.

We could lose to anyone at home too tbh. Nothing is certain right now.

I don't disagree with that at all, my only hope that we may now be different at home is that we play the rest of the games there with the same urgency as we did against Palace, but only time will time there. If you asked me before that game I'd say I could envision us losing at home more than I would away, just because certain teams wouldn't put everyone behind the ball like they would when facing us at the new ground.

As a matter of interest out of all them away games,
since winning at Fulham on 19-Jan 2019 it's been

Burnley lost 2-1
Chelsea lost 2-0
Southampton lost 2-1
Liverpool lost 2-1
Man City lost 1-0
Bournemouth lost 1-0

2019-20

Man City drew 2-2
Arsenal drew 2-2
Leicester lost 2-1

2 points from a possible 27. This is not just a poor run, what do the players and Pochettino need to do to turn this around

I wonder how many of them games we played with a proper def mid player ?

I would've expected more of a keeper of his calibre.

The weird thing is that until January we had the best away record in European leagues last season until that point! Night and Day. What happened to change it so incredibly dramatically?

What's startling about this record is we're not losing games badly. All but one of those defeats have been by a single goal.

Last season we had a fair few games where it was deadlocked going into the last 10 minutes and we won it late. So we were able to turn a single point into three on 3/4/5/6 occasions but totally unable to turn around a losing position in 2019. Baffling stuff.

I always felt that we were riding our luck in the first half of last season. We had far too many unconvincing wins to be sustainable and it was clear the pendulum would swing the other way at some point. However now it won't swing back and we're losing almost all of the close games (barring absurd luck against City).

You have my vote to be our next manager, your prompt yet shrewd answer stands head and shoulders above what anyone else on SC might have come up with :D
I’ve just got back from a quick time-machine jaunt to the year 2026. I got this brain-feed news item (newspapers will completely disappear in the year 2024 and be replaced with direct-to-brain news aggregation technology):

“Tottenham Hotspur celebrate winning the Champions League in style.

Speaking to the media, Spurs manager Dougal (surname withheld for legal reasons) said,

‘All you need to win things is to win. I tell my players that every day. When you win, it helps you to win. It’s quite a complex concept, but me and (Tottenham Assistant Manager) A&C work on it in training at every session. And then, you know, it happens’

Asked what the future held for him amid speculation that he was going to be poached by the newly-formed Spanish champions Real-Barcelona-Atletico-Madridencia, Dougal (surname withheld for legal reasons) quipped, “maybe today or tomorrow or in five years or never. One of those.”

Yeah, we've gone from "the mark of a good team is to win when playing badly", to "a good team, playing badly and losing".
It was only a matter of time, in hindsight, that our dodgy performances caught up with us.
