We've all noticed how the atmosphere at home has become poisonous when things aren't going entirely our way. Well, AVB has too.

"We didn't have the support we should have done. There was much anxiety from the stands, the players had to do it alone.

Backing from the stands can have a strong effect on player performance. Let this please be a wake-up call and not another excuse to spout shit about AVB. Yes, the football hasn't been inspiring, but the home support has been downright atrocious so far this season.

whilst i agree with him, i don't know what he expects when he has us playing such boring, slow and dire football. do something positive on the pitch and the crowd will react, that in turn will have a positive impact on the players, the two go hand-in-hand.

Would help if he didn't turn one of the most exciting teams in the premiership into this uncreative dross.
Fuck that. Seriously.

As fans we need to back the players and encourage them to turn in better performances. Moaning and groaning should be forbidden before the final whistle has gone. While the ball is in play, we have to support the team.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas: "We looked like the away team, we played in a difficult atmosphere with almost no support. We have a wonderful set of fans but they can do better. Away from home we play with no fear and we need that atmosphere at White Hart Lane.

"We don't need the negativity that was in White Hart Lane today."

I'd like yo know what people who were at the Lane today thought. Seems a bit strong, 'almost no support'. It didnt sound any different to other home games, which can have shitty support, but it's weird why he brings it up today.

I'm not surprised. Some spurs fans have turned into spoilt bellends that seem to forget just how it was not so long ago with people like chris Armstrong upfront.

Today's game was frustrating yes, and yes at times our passing could of been way better but hull made it that way by playing turgid shite football.

Patience, believe in the manager and players but most of all stop whinging and get behind the team!

The style of football had nothing to do with the atmosphere. I simply don't buy that if we played good football the atmosphere would be better. Under 'arry we played decent football but still had shit performances like today and the atmosphere was awful against most of the lower placed teams

Teams like Stoke and Palace don't play good football and have good atmospheres.

It's down to expectations and I can't see it changing anytime soon unless something drastic happens. It's something most of us have to accept, you rarely see great performances by the fans at the top clubs except in derbies. City, United, Arsenal, Scouse, Chelsea, all poor.

Totally agree with AVB, while our football isn't as attractive as it was say 2-3 years ago, the people who go to home games should be going to support the fucking team. Great example last season was the Inter Milan game, I was there and it as the game after we beat the scum and the atmosphere was fucking electric and in turn so was the performance. Support the team and the players support you by putting in a good performance, its simple really.

AVB is right, the atmosphere at WHL today by the sounds of it on TV was pretty awful. Dunno why it has gone like this when it used to be very good even when losing. People can blame that we are playing slow football but its pretty hard when the other team literally has 11 men in their own half. Instead of also slating Spurs why not give credit to Hull because they were very good today to deal with the pressure and our attacks, just cause we dont play well doesnt mean its always all our fault, the other team playing well has contributed to that

I think he's talking out of his arse. This isn't the way to get the fans on side. We're a big club now and he has to shoulder the weight of expectation.

I think its a valid point, in general the atmosphere has been on the decline for seasons now. Not something the manager should be coming out with though, no good can come of this in my opinion.

AVB coming out with this could be the best opportunity for us to have a proper discussion about what atmosphere we want to create at the Lane, as fans.

Maybe we've brushed it under the carpet for too long, stuff like the 1882 is a good start, but that doesn't help the rest of the stadium where people are more eager to be vocal about a misplaced pass than a perfectly positioned one.
