I think that's pretty harsh. He didn't have any moments of pure genius, but he was Villa today. He popped up all over the park, was practically impossible to get the ball off, his passing is always expertly measured and precise and he won what felt like 30 fouls. He also got an assist and would've had another were it not for that Davies block. If he wasn't in this Villa team they would've been as good as relegated by now.

He was up against Serge who was having one of his days where he'd left his brain at home, and Toby who was showing he's not far off matching Jan in the decrepit stakes. The one where he just waddled past him down the flank and left him trailing was a borderline retirement moment for Alderweireld to be honest.

I don't think he's a bad player at all, but he does have quite major glaring limitations still, and today he basically had free run of proceedings and didn't ultimately do that much to capitalise on that. Certainly not to the levels of praise he's been getting all afternoon on here.

I really like how Mourinho immediately gestured to Verts to get ready to be subbed. Not sure did he celebrated, but that was really a very committed display of game management right up to the final few seconds and not taking any little chances.

He did the same against Citeh, not celebrating with Son, instead passing further instructions to Lamela.

We're so entertaining. Every game is chaos. Admittedly I would have pissed if we'd lost but I'm Loving the unknown that Spurs is. Anything can happen when we play. It's exhilarating. Loving this Spurs.

Yes Mourinho seems good on the details but how about we start playing with a certain style and shape. I see very little of this. A caretaker manager could probably have achieved as much in terms of our control, game management and patterns of play. I can't see a lot of what he's trying to do except.

Stevie was MOM for me. Lo Celso despite having only a few minutes was a close second best.
Grealish is a brilliant player for Villa, he reminds me of our own Gazza. Besides the confidence and the skill, he makes things happen with bags of ease and class. We should go after him whatever it takes.

That was extremely worrying to someone we have just given a big long term contract to.

Still conceding too many goals and villa having 18 attempts on goal from a bottom 4 side is a joke, but we have to start somewhere and a win is a win.

We missed our chance with Grealish by messing about. We won’t pay what it will take to get him now. Levy won’t allow himself to pay two or three times what he wasn’t willing to pay last time.

We already did, but apparently £25m was too much.

My initial comparison with Dele was merely to state he’s a better footballer, and he is, by miles.

I’d also say Cantwell is a better footballer than Dele.

Dele is going backwards when all these young English players who operate in his position are going in the opposite direction.

I think within 12 months Dele won’t be anywhere near the England side. Barely getting a sniff of the squad even

I think that's Grealish's problem he is a little like Gazza but football has moved on.
