I'm intrigued to know where the other 3 points come from in this new 6 pointer scenario :D

Confident about this game actually, reckon we'll do 'em 1-3

A six pointer means it’s a critical 3 point game. It doesn’t matter if your fighting relegation or trying to win the PL.

Lose and Chelsea and Sheff Utd win and we have a psychological and real points set back. Win and they both win we keep pace. We win and they lose and this could be pivotal in drawing right up to Chelsea. There is more riding on this then just a win against Villa. It’s a pivotal game especially coming after a break.

Is that difficult for you to understand? Sorry I’ll try not to tax your brain in future.

Ok then. If we lose it doesn’t matter and if we win it’s meh? I get you.
It appears that no one has explained what a "6-pointer" is, they've just been taking the piss and making cryptic comments containing minimal information.

This weekend's game against Villa is not a 6-pointer. The prerequisites for a 6-pointer are (a) the two teams contesting the match have to be very close together in the table; (b) they need to be competing for the same thing, which could be the title, CL qualification, promotion or avoiding relegation; (c) no second match or third/fourth club can be involved or is relevant - the 6 points in question have to be directly between the two clubs contesting the match.

That's a 6-pointer.

We are miles above Villa in the stands. They are trying to avoid relegation and we are trying to get into the top 4. Any matches this weekend involving Chelsea or the other clubs threatened by relegation are irrelevant.

So it's not a 6-pointer. Not even a little bit. Not.

Thanks David for clarifying. There a rule book on this? So we won’t have to worry then. I am sure the match thread is going to be totally relaxed when we lose.

Finally hoping it will be the beginning of the ndombele, winks and lo celso midfield.

Lloris
Aurier. Tanganga. Toby. Davies
Lo celso. Winks. Ndombele
Son. Dele. Bergwijn

Is this the Groundhog Day thread?
It will be important to get those 6 points, it will make a difference at the end of the season.

It's in the dictionary.

noun

informal

a football match between two teams in similar positions in the league table, considered as being worth six points as it not only gains thewinning team three points but denies three points to the losing team

No one is saying it doesnt matter if we lose

I have a hard time fathoming the optimistic, "With this lineup we should have more than enough to beat them"-style Spurs fan. Nothing wrong with it, just so completely alien to me. We can- and do- lose to anybody and everybody, depending on- dunno- the phase of the moon perhaps? Confidence + Tottenham have never- and will never- go together in my book. We lost to Genk.

As far as Sunday goes I have zero confidence we'll get a win. Zero. Perhaps we will- but I'm not "confident" we will. I could more see a back-to-earth, catastrophic defeat than a solid victory.

Oh and yes, I am fun at parties.

quite optimistic to this fixture, everytime we get close to top4 we will stumble, 1-1 draw is all written.

Yep whenever I’ve been confident we would win a game, over the last couple of years, we’ve lost it.

Its gonna be a difficult week. Bit of a make or break in a way. 4 points and a lead going in to the second leg would be a great return

? I have the same outlook on spurs as this.
The 90s as a spurs fan destroyed my optimism
