Tottenham signed Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers last summer after activating his £2m release clause.

Phillips, who has been labelled a ‘wonderkid’, spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle, where he flourished. He started virtually every game for The Pilgrims and was pivotal in their fight to stay up, finishing a point above the drop zone.

I don't think it would be too bad to utilise him as 4th choice CB. We have our 1st 3 CBs and also Davies still.
Do we really need an additional CB coming in and blocking pathways for Phillips and Dorrington?

The only CB signing I think would be worthwhile would be a RB who can play CB as well like Davies but the ones that are suitable for Ange's style of football are rare

I’d forgotten about him and thought this was about Ashley Young.

I'd like to see him and Davies rotate as the fourth CB this year. Unless of course the club think his development is best served with a loan in the Championship/lower Prem club.

I watched about 6 Plymouth games last season and Phillips was regularly the standout player.
Let’s hope he gets his chance with us if Ange rates him.

He'll kick off the pre season as our first choice CB. How he perform will decide his role this season.

Won Plymouth's young player of the season so they were definitely impressed. Think he's probably ready to get some PL game time and may as well stay for it given there'll be plenty of games next season with Europe.

I was really really impressed with him in the recent Newcastle friendly in Melbourne. Confident on the ball, good passer and solid defensively.

Wondering if this move to Stoke could be a potential sweetener for their midfielder we were linked with earlier in the window
