I'd normally applaud an appointment like Arteta - young, something different, take a risk etc. - but on this occasion, at this moment, I don't think he's the right choice. Arse are screaming out for a Rafa or Ancelotti type. A big beast who the players can respect, who'll bring order & steady the ship, but who also has the coaching guile to grind out the points while he sorts things out. Either of those guys is absolutely perfect for the moment. Rafa also has experience taking over mid-season, doesn't need a budget, and can work with a dysfunctional board. He'd be my insta-pick if I were them.

Think they are fucked either way, a experienced manager will need to spend big but I don't believe Arsenal have the money. They need to rebuild, get rid of all the shit and players that don't want to be there and do it with a manager who will stay for the long term.

Problem is that the fans and impatient and I don't think they'd accept more years of stagnation and transition.

Reckon the board fucked up by not sacking Wenger quick enough in the first place, if they pushed him out in 2014 they probably could have hired someone reputable however the job now isn't appealing, crap players, no money, incompetent board and over expectant fans - it wouldn't surprise me if the majority of the managers they tried to hire turned them down.

Everton get Carlo Ancelotti, a serial winner in many different countries with vast amounts of experience....

Arsenal get the bloke who used to collect the bibs and put out the cones for Guardiola...

How the mighty have fallen and long may it continue.

A bit unfair given his three consecutive Europa League titles with Sevilla.
It would have been had he not spent a billion Euros to win a domestic treble with the team that was already the best team in a one team league. Plus Europa League is a far cry form Champions league

For what it's worth, and I'm sure we already thought this was the case, but Poch turned down the goons.

Poch on Barcelona and Arsenal:
"This is my decision. I would prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than to go and work in certain places."

I'm old enough to remember when people thought Brian Kidd, Steve McClaren and Carlos Queiroz were going to be good managers simply because they learnt under Ferguson. Roll on the Arteta at Arsenal era.

McClaren was decent - he's won cups and leagues. It just so happens he's a bit of a bellend, and it caught up with him eventually.

Ancelotti named as Everton's manager most likely will be presented during their midweek cup game against LC and his first game in charge will be against...

Arsenal. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

fingers crossed.... would love if they beat Arsenal in his first game in charge.

What is it with this club chairmen. Most are millionaires/billionaires yet seem to lose their intelligence when they get involved with football. What exactly has Arteta done to deserve even being considered as Manager/Head Coach of a senior club like Arsenal ? Nothing is the correct answer.

Going for Arteta is really risky :). Rafa would have been a good appointment for them, but he wants to finish his contract in China. I can't believe that Ancelotti suddenly became available just as they need someone and they're just going to ignore him.
