From Ornstein yesterday. No wonder they’re in the supposed shit with Emery. When the manager has to deal with this kind of thing, is it any wonder there are problems there?

A bizarre situation has developed in Abaumayang’s time with the Gunners to leave some questioning his suitability for the role.

The 30-year-old striker is said to have irritated some people by developing a relationship with AFTV, the YouTube channel that calls itself the “Unofficial Voice of Arsenal fans around the world”.

Many at the club believe the growth of AFTV, formerly known as ArsenalFanTV, has contributed to an upsurge in negativity towards the team and specific players from sections of the support.

Sources suggest Aubameyang was “so smart” to strike up a rapport with the channel and express a view that in “promoting” the content, he is effectively endorsing and encouraging more of it to be produced, and making himself immune to criticism even if his performance level drops.

The Gabon international appearing to “like” a number of contentious AFTV posts on Instagram, including one in June criticising Emery and another in September calling for Xhaka to be sold in the next transfer window, is said to have left team-mates and staff unimpressed.

Apparently, Aubameyang has also been asked to stop engaging with one of AFTV’s contributors, ‘Troopz’. It is claimed that complaints have been lodged about Aubameyang inviting the supporter to watch games from his executive box, which is situated in the same quadrant of the ground that houses the majority of other player boxes and is intended for use by family and friends.

On the pitch, Aubameyang has established himself as Arsenal’s most important player and both parties have a crucial moment looming as he approaches the final year of his contract.

The club are understandably keen to extend his deal, but it is thought the player would prefer to see if his side qualify for next season’s Champions League before making a commitment.

How you gonna give the captains armband to a man who puts on a black panther masks when he celebrates?

Like I said before AFTV is highly damaging.

Troopz is no real fan either, he's just an opportunist. And Aubemeyang is an idiot for doing that.

Troopz is continuously slagging players off and not in a nice way either, so imagine being a family member of a player and seeing that goon sat in one of the boxes.

Arsenal fans should be doing all they can to stop AFTV filming in future.

It’s also interesting Abaumayang will push to leave if they don’t get champions league. I suspect lacazette will follow suit. As I’ve been saying since the summer, it’s imperative they don’t get champions league again this season. It will damage them so much.

Yeah I can see it being really damaging for them and they'll languish from 6th-midtable as they'll struggle to pull in a good coach and players. They'll have to take gambles on young unproven players.

It just makes our situation all the more infuriating

I get they have to play to character but I do think they are fans and very passionate about that. He goes home and away which not many do even if AFTV contribute towards his travel

It’s basically his job. Most fans go home and away to support the team, and pay through the nose for the pleasure. He makes a living off it.

Fair enough I would assume he has a regular job. Not sure how much money is in the system for Robbie to pay him a decent whack. Dont see many companies endorsing a man like him

A lot more of us would go home and away if it was our job to do it. I'm sure he is a fan but everyone involved in AFTV puts that secondary to making money. The amount of money they make is directly related to how badly things are going at Arsenal and they intentionally throw fuel on the fire to cash in on it. Fair play to them, if they can make a living out of it then so be it, but being an Arsenal fan is completely secondary to the people involved IMO. As evidenced by the video of them celebrating Arsenal conceding a few months ago when they forgot their live stream was still running.

He’ll make appearances here and there. Few quid for this, few for that. All on the back of his team’s failure.

Not as easy as it sounds. AFTV thrives when Arsenal are shit. As it stands, Arsenal are shit.

The biggest thing the club could do to get rid of AFTV is to stop being such a car crash. If Arsenal were challenging for titles and playing well, AFTV's viewership would plummet to the point where it was no longer sustainable and would eventually die out. The vast majority of their viewers are not Arsenal fans, but rival fans and journos looking for a laugh at Arsenal's expense. All of those people wouldn't tune in if it's just Claude and Ty saying "Yeah I thought we played really well today, got the three points in a difficult place to come. Well done boys" every week.

I hope AFTV goes from strength to strength.

It's a weird one. Robbie is loving all the media attention. I assume when Robbie first launched his channel he genuinely wanted Arsenal to do well. As soon as he realised how big his channel got everytime arsenal underperformed Im sure he is delighted with every point they drop. I dont subscribe but I do tend to view clips when they havent won. Would assume 90% do the same

Let's just be thankful we have nothing like that

Agree, we had some ITK in the summer that one of them wanted out then.

It’s basically what Spurs Chat would look like if you filmed it. We’re not so different, despite what people may think.
