So while we were all laughing when it was reported arsenal only had 40mil budget. They have went and boought 2 new wingers, centre back, left back and good midfield loan addition. Also when Palace didnt play ball with Zaha no messing around straight and picked up Pepe. Levy will have alot to answer for if we loose ground to Arsenal.
If we signed Pepe for £80M would any of us be happy? Genuine Q
Look not here to wind or annoy. Im just pissed at whats happening at our own club who are im champions league but seem to faHave to laugh at everyone saying Pepe is unproven in the premiership in response to arsenal 72mil seal. And if Cellabos who is keen to shine gets them top 4 then doesnt look such a bad loan deal does it.
No but different circumstances can determine how worthwhile a particular transfer is. If you asked the same question about Maguire I'd say no too but if I was a United fan I'd say yes.
Whether I think it's a good signing for Arsenal, I'm not sure though. I do actually think they need a player like him, despite their defence needing work too but he's had just the one standout season I think, is that right? I do think it's a lot of money for such a player. He could turn out to be a great signing and a much better choice over Zaha, but I'd be more concerned if they did spend that money on Zaha, just because I know for a fact that he can wreak havoc in the Premier League.
They have spent the equivalent of the Zaha money on Pepe. But a lot of noise around the structure of the deal, that it is either structured as five separate transfers which was mentioned by another poster [who I asked about this but didn't reply back to me] which would maybe avoid FFP [This is me guessing] or that this deal has been paid for through a third party finance co. which was mentioned by another poster and if they have financed this deal that would suggest they don't have the money and that they are taking an even greater gamble.
But back to Pepe, is he better than Son and Moura, both of these guys have done it this league and the champions league no one knows yet what Pepe will do.
Anyway I don't see how buying a player that doesn't address your glaring problems actually improves you.
I don't know where the chatter came from or started but its being suggested that the fee is being paid in instalments by a third party finance co. which is very different.I was under the impression that most transfer fees are paid in installments. They're talking about it like it's some revolutionary new idea.

I heard that it was £27m for one season, not two. If it was for two seasons, for that kind of outlay I wouldn’t mind betting we’d be all over this too.....Reports that they are looking to get Coutinho on loan for two years at £27m so it looks like rather than buy they've decided to rent a team.
You may be right I thought I read two years but may be wrong, either way I doubt we'd touch it.I heard that it was £27m for one season, not two. If it was for two seasons, for that kind of outlay I wouldn’t mind betting we’d be all over this too.....
The small print was the killer. The proposed deal was for a £27 million loan fee for the year, and then a non-negotiable commitment to buy the player (who would then be 28 years old) at an exorbitant price. You may be right I thought I read two years but may be wrong, either way I doubt we'd touch it.
In which case we definitely wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. The small print was the killer. The proposed deal was for a £27 million loan fee for the year, and then a non-negotiable commitment to buy the player (who would then be 28 years old) at an exorbitant price.
That defence ????????????????????
