I don't think they've had a great summer if they haven't addressed the glaring problems they have at the back and in terms of spirit/character. They've picked up 137 points at home in the last three seasons compared to our 132 (mostly at Wembley, tbf). Away from home they've got 69 compared to our 100.

It's not hard to see them continue to stroll past most teams at the Emirates, that's never been a problem for them. There'll be plenty of 3-0/4-1/5-0 scores. But I don't see how Pepe or Ceballos turns around their away form. It's a chronic problem and they've spent close to £100m on players who aren't likely to change the script, and nothing on players who could.

The away from home form as well as being a tactical thing is most definitely mental. They didn’t win a game away from home after December in wenger’s last year and their away form was diabolical last season. Only a changeover of the right players will change that and they haven’t done it, especially in defence. Unless they address that in the last weeks of the window then they’re in trouble. Hopefully.

Exactly!

To win away games in the PL you need a very strong centre and an organised defence. You also need a pretty strong mentality. You can't just rock up at Molineux or Selhurst Park expecting your firepower to win you the game. You dont get the lions share away from home so need to have substance with style.

It's rather annoying we play them 3 games in as I don't think we will be at peak especially if we are bedding players in, although I guess it may be as good as it gets for them as I see issues ahead unless they bring in a solid cm and cb

I get why they want Pepe, but why not refurbish their defense before splashing that kinda cash on a 'one season wonder' per say..

Gooner friend says PEA, lacazette, pepe and ceballos is on par with City's and Liverpool's front four. Absolute shite. Two aren't prem proven but that doesnt matter to him.

I said that four isn't even as good as DESK and he said he'd happily place a bet that PEA, lacazette and pepe would outscore our four combined. I obviously accepted the bet. I look forward to my winnings next May.

Seeing as Ceballos is a no6 or no8 I'm not sure where he's getting the idea that he's part of a front four from.

Well that was in my thinking also but i really couldn't be arsed to argue, he's a pain in the arse when he starts spouting crap like this, only surprise from him so far is that this summer is the only summer so far where he hasn't said Kane is leaving.

Our front 4 are all capable of hitting double figures in this league, only two of their have proved it, that should be Ozil in place of Ceballos really.

Having said that Eriksen will probably look to leave so not sure where that leaves us.

Our depth is better too.

Lucas, Son, Kane, Eriksen (currently) - outweigh PEA, Lacazette, Pepe and Iwobi.

If we can add both Lo Celso & Fernandes we have more goals in us than them. More variation too.

Something Arsenal fans appear to be not getting is the work ethic of Mane, Salah and Firmino. They are all pretty selfless players and work hard within the press. PEA is certainly not that player and it remains to be seen whether Pepe is either.

Also Firmino is vastly different as he floats about creating space and instigating, none of the Arsenal front 3 possess that. Considering Emery benched one of Lacazette or PEA last year, I'm not even sure if he plans to use all three at the same time.

Astounded that it is €80m PLUS add ons on top of that, for Pepe.
Wouldn't be surprised if the top line figure is close to €100m. Regardless of how achievable the add ons are, that is nuts.

Smacks a bit of desperation to quell the fan uprising.

This appears to happen each season now.

They were always going to improve unfortunately as will United. The key is for us to keep improving also, because obviously if we don't we will go backwards. Could someone send Levy the memo?

So while we were all laughing when it was reported arsenal only had 40mil budget. They have went and boought 2 new wingers, centre back, left back and good midfield loan addition. Also when Palace didnt play ball with Zaha no messing around straight and picked up Pepe. Levy will have alot to answer for if we loose ground to Arsenal.

Who have they bought? They've only got cellabos on loan, saliba has been loaned back and then added pepe and martinelli. what left back have they got? callabos doesn't even want to be there hence the 'option to buy' clause hasn't been added to the loan deal, saliba isn't here till next season (we have tanaganga whos looked fantastic pre season). pepe, how good is he? why were no big teams in for him? they've bought players they don't need.
