Or maybe we are better than their deluded internet fan base and don’t?

Our social media team haven’t said anything about the game last night. Imagine if the opposite thing happened, no way they’d be as quiet.
It's called class, they'll never have it.

Couldn’t give a shit about finishing above them tbh. Especially as they could end up with a cup......again.

Shut up you Essex slag. I bet if West Ham were a point behind us you’d be desperate to finish above them you Chelmsford Chav.

I‘d rather finish above them again.

I‘ve been to Wembley to see Spurs win many cups there, in the days when winning the FA Cup was as big as winning the League. Now it absolutely isn’t, to the extent that many people can’t believe it ever was. But clubs now field weakened teams right up to the semi-finals, and including the semis sometimes, purely because it matters relatively little any more.

Of course the fans like it when they win a cup, and yes, it would be nice to do it again, but not important in the way it used to be.

It’s more a case of nostalgia than current reality.

We delude ourselves if we think that Arsenal, for example, have been more successful than the clubs above them in the league this season if they win a cup that plenty of other clubs have basically thrown so they could concentrate on their league position. The league is where the money is, where the power is, and though we may hate the fact that football has moved in that direction, it‘s not realistic to deny thst’s what the clubs themselves have done to football.

Anyway, they’re Arsenal, so fuck ’em and their silliness.

See i totally disagree with this sentiment, as a fan approaching the age of 30 i would rather finish below Arsenal and win the FA Cup

Fair enough. You’re entitled to your sentimental ideals.

But do you disagree with the facts as opposed to the sentiment?

I‘d rather the FA Cup was still taken seriously by the clubs so that I could take it seriously again. But until it is, I can’t.

I'd certainly rather win something than finish above them, especially as it's only 6th or 7th spot.

Don't get me wrong it's nice to be able to say that we've finished above them for the fourth time in a row. However last season we were in the CL final which would have trumped anything they had done, yet if we'd have finished below them and lost we'd never have heard the end of it.

Although it's quite peculiar that if they win their season is a successful one yet if they lose its an utter embarrassment (10th and nothing to show, no European football). Such a fine line.

You just know though that if we were winning FA Cups and finishing 10th they'd be saying it's a failure and calling the cup worthless.

Football fans are so weird sometimes.

I understand what you are saying, and the FA Cup definitely doesnt mean anywhere near as much as it did before.

I think we are at a stage now where we really need to win a trophy though to get the monkey off our back.
