It’s like they’ve never been away
This I imagine will be a huge test for Arteta. He's never managed a periodisation/pre-season. At least the other coaches will be able to rely on their previous experiences in how to deal with this pause (to an extent). If Arteta gets it wrong it could really expose him.
I teach English to a couple of retired elite players and one of them is trying to get a coaching position in another country and his team have programmed for a 6 week programme before they play any competitive games - they haven't just planned it but demanded it. Goes to show if you don't plan accordingly or get the programme wrong you could come back very under prepared.
Hopefully our team have got it right.

I think it’s more likely they will play better, especially away from home where the lack of fans will help their weak minded players.

That signing was always going to be a mistake. It’s what made it so funny that sections of the media (Arsenal fans) were trying to convince themselves and everyone else that it was a good signing. Anyone who’d ever watched him play knew what they were getting.
