finally they've been hit to some degree by injuries- Odor and Saka in tandem have made their other forwards look better than they are

Key, long term injuries can make the difference between being good and being winners
And was the reason that they came second in last two seasons due to the fact that they did not have any serious injury problems, unlike almost all the other top 6 clubs.
This season the tide has turned and important players are missing . Just have to get on with it.

Players not rested, and the same selections made game after game, so it is inevitable that will take its toll and it has. The way the game is played now, particularly in the PL, will mean some terrible health problems for the players in later life. New hips, new knees, and heaven knows what else.

Not winning a trophy is one thing but Arteta hasn't led them to a final since they won the FA Cup.

When you think Poch got us to

A League Cup final
2 FA Cup semis
Champions league final

in 5 years, it's amazing how Arteta isn't under more pressure.

They've only won two FA Cup ties since they won it last, against Newcastle and Oxford. They haven't come closer to a cup trophy than a League Cup semi final in five years. That's poor for them considering their history.

Keown is the gift that keeps on giving.
if someone asked me I have a choice of dinner party guests and I have to choose 3 people out of Keown, someone who doesn’t speak or understand English, the dentist who killed that lion a few years back and the director of the film Skinamarink, I’d choose the latter 3.

For those unaware, Skinamarink is a movie that was allowed to be made somehow and makes me genuinely want to slaughter an entire village of nice people because I sat through that movie waiting for something to happen. I dare any of you not to want to kill someone or mutilate kittens after watching it.

Was it one of @scat1620 ’s recommendations in the movie thread?

All the ex arsenal players, apart from Wrighty, make themselves look like twits every time someone gives them a bit of oxygen.
At least if we’ve been bad O’Hara (who can also be a bit of a twit) will come out and call it for what it is.
Deluded the lot of them, i just don’t understand how Monkey Man and The Drunk get the airtime they do, maybe the media actually put them on just for our giggles!

Even Adrian Clarke on the Totally Show, who I often think is pretty good, was making all kinds of excuses for Arteta's ball comments.

They're completely obsessed with defending the club. Could strike out those last two words and still be right.

Yeah even the bad days under Wenger they flirted with a title challenge for a short period but fell away or did the reverse. But he always had them doing well in the cups - even with second string teams.

The fall off for Wenger was getting embarrassed in the CL knock outs.

Their fans seem to have been brainwashed by Arteta and this process.

Whilst on one hand you could say that they needed a refocus and refresh to get back to competing for titles, the other hand would say that they may not have needed to have gone as far as they had done because they've kind of lowered their expectations now.

Excuses are always ready for Arteta.

They claim to be a huge club, a winning club. If so, then their demands should be higher because under Wenger they were regular competitors for everything. They just couldn't win anymore under him.

But Arteta has had them thinking they are doing great but they aren't actually winning anything.

They've yet to do anything better than Wenger did even in his final years!

If we were in their position (like we kind of were under Poch) you would know that it would be Levy that would be the main reason why we didn’t push on but with Arsenal, and this is total guess work on my part really, it does seem to be Arteta that is the problem. Why haven’t they signed a top drawer striker? Sure, it probably took Arteta a season or 2 to win over the board and get them to buy players he wanted but they’re fully on board now aren’t they? As I said earlier, why didn’t they just sign Sesko or whoever, they would’ve stumped up. I can only think it’s Arteta who’s the reason they haven’t signed one and instead have signed 364 centre backs.

Absolutely. What makes that more certain is the style of play they have adopted to.

That tells you it's by Arteta's design.

Also with Edu leaving, before they have won anything, indicates to me that things were not rosy. Perhaps Arteta was getting his way and Edu was suggesting other players? Or perhaps they just didn't see eye to eye?

P.S I know Edu had a great offer to go but I still find it odd he's left a team who CAN win to a project that probably isn't as satisfying.

Not really funny. I enjoy laughing at Arsenal as much as the next man. Give me some AFTV meltdown.

But in this, unsurprisingly, Keown comes across sensible, measured and articulate compared with Jordan and White, who are just provocateurs.
Talksport is so pointless.

If you asked Arteta this he would probably reply with 2 Community Shields and a Premier League final 😂
