I’m trying to think if there is any Arsenal player or anyone related to that club in any way I don’t despise to my absolute core, and no. There’s not.

Current maybe not, but I always liked Per Mertesacker even when he was with them.

Bob Wilson is a nice chap.

In fact, if we’re being honest, there are many good people related to that club, as with any club.

Behind the scenes it is often said they do things with a lot more class than we do sadly, in terms of how they treat ex-players and back room non-football staff - back when I was on turnstiles at spurs it was known they were treated a lot better at Arsenal.

It’s just their manager and team that is unlikeable 😉😉

Way too early to say those things 6 games into the season. You have no idea what's around the corner with injuries, drop in form, etc.

Don’t really see anything wrong with what he’s saying. He’s just being confident in his team. Truth is this year is probably their best chance to win it, with a) Rodri being injured and b) City likely to be slapped with a points deduction or worse.

People really need to start making peace with the idea that Arsenal will probably win the league this year. As much as we don’t want them to. Liverpool are in transition, Chelsea have started well but it looks like a fragile situation, Villa won’t sustain a challenge imo, and neither will we.

That leaves Arsenal or City.
This may be true, but . . .

I don't think it's probable but it's very possible. The January transfer window could be key if City manage to buy a couple of players. With the Rodri injury, and no Haaland backup i'd say the chances are something like 40% Arsenal, 35% City, 15% Liverpool, 10% Chelsea, Villa or Spurs. Spurs chances extremely tiny but just about there given our underlying stats so far.

I wouldn't necessarily rule out Liverpool either, we will know more as they face better teams though I guess. I agree that Villa will be in and amongst it but their chances are also very slim with the CL workload.

Ok ladies and gents, place your bets. Will he or won't he be available for Arsenal's first game after the international break? As a bonus bet, name the day next week that Saka pulls out of the England squad with a 'back problem'.

I think we all know the answer to question one.

Saka will probably stay in the squad though, his place in the starting line up is under threat because of the form of Palmer.

Liverpool will contend for the title IMO. Chelsea look transformed too, and their squad is so deep.

They have both had pretty soft starts to the season fixture wise though haven’t they.

They could both make a challenge sure, but both teams have question marks hanging over them. The favourites are City and Arsenal, and I think we can rule City out for the reasons I’ve already mentioned.

Fair points. It's early days but Arsenal do have that feel like Leicester did that one season. Everything seems to be aligning for them. But let's see how they fare balancing Europe with the PL, and injuries are always the wild card. They're well overdue a few.

Didn’t watch England so is Saka actually injured or did he just pull his usual sickie when the game wasn’t going his way and doing a pronounced limp to make sure everyone absolutely knows he’s injured and not at all being a diva?

A message I received an hour ago from my arsenal fan neighbours. They genuinely don't realise what is going on with Saka and his contant 'injuries.'

I think he’s genuinely injured this time. Happy days. Sorry saka but hope you’re injured for the rest of the season then you can piss off to Madrid.

I dunno, I didn't see whatever happened in the first half but he's looked a lot more "injured" in the past and been fine for the next club match. Jonathan Veal posted a video of him walking "gingerly" after the match and my first thought was "isn't that just how he walks?".
