£250m for 5 extra points and the same position in the table. Although tbf Levy would look at that and take it as vindication of his methods.

Genuine question but has a manager ever spent as much as Arteta and not won the league?

That's one way of looking at it. Here is another one:

2022
4th Tottenham - 71 Points
5th Arsenal - 69 Points

2023
2nd Arsenal - 84 Points
8th Tottenham - 60 Points

2024
2nd Arsenal - 89 Points
5th Tottenham - 66 Points

If you want to compete year in and year out with the best in the league, you’ve got to buy quality players. Arsenal's board has at least tried to do just that, which has led them to run Man City (the best team in the world) close twice in a row. Since our revenue is on par with Arsenal's, it seems intuitive that we should expect Levy and the board to show similar ambition.

Watching MOTD and seeing Ian Wright showing the Son miss over and over again and saying “that was the title right there” has made me happier than the days my kids were born. I’m welling up.

The stupid thing is they assume the game would have ended there but City would have pushed 100%

I told my Arsenal friend, it's now or never for Arsenal. Obviously not never, but not for awhile.

They had so much going for them this season.

1. Spurs, United, Chelsea and Liverpool out of the title race.
2. City not as good as they were in previous years for much of the year.
3. No major injuries
4. Players having career years
5. A ton of calls going their way
6. Teams playing uncharacteristically poor against them (Liverpool, Spurs and City all did)

With all that. They still fell short.

I saw a clip on twitter yesterday of a lot of Son goals on breakaways against the keeper - if I was more creative or technically adept, I would have taken that clip, then added the miss against City, and then Sonny doing his little camera pose - to send on to my Arsenal mates.

Goons had a very good season, we have a hill to climb to catch them. They added Rice, they didn’t choke this year too.

Saliba was best in league, Gabriel not too far behind either. They were generally excellent defensively, only a couple of gifted goals that I can remember.

We gifted goals and chances too easily.

Glad city won though, with Pep there next year still, hard to see them allowing the goons in.

I am expecting Arsenal and their cheating to come under much more scrutiny next season as with the Leicester after they won the PL. Leicester's rugby tactics were stamped upon and it reduced their effectiveness considerably. Arsenal I hope will have their diving , their body checking of opponents, their pretend injuries etc receive much more attention than it has this season.

Thank god they didn’t win it this year.
No chance that next year they get the same luck with their own injuries, opposition injuries and referees.

Just seen this on motd absolutely unbelievable. And Shearer can fuck off saying right decision. If thats Richarlison its 100% ruled out by the same ref.

This is one of my gripes - it’s breaking up opponents pressure a lot of the time and handily used a a comfort/coaching break by Arteta, so predictable every game they play.

Blatant cheating, look in the comments of that thread and it shows the Odegaard against Liverpool.

it is honestly laughable how that was not given as a penalty.

I hate them as much as the next spurs fan but you have to admit they are progressing. They are staying competitive with City and spending significantly less.
Saliba, Gabriel, White, Rice, Odegaard, Havertz and Saka, the majority of their first choice XI, have missed a combined 15 league games this season while most of the the other teams in the league seemed to be suffering from unprecedented levels of injury crises.

Are they really progressing, or did they just benefit from having consistency of selection for their key players while the teams around them were regularly putting out patchwork squads? As far as I can see, the main difference between this season and the last season is last season they got one long term injury to a key player, Saliba, in the back end of the season and that was enough to completely derail them. This season, they didn't have that issue.

How likely are they to be as fortunate next season with avoiding injuries, with the EUROs and Copa America this summer?

Surely Saka was injured every week, I'm sure I saw him limping.
