Transfer window: Tottenham to begin talks for Arnaud Kalimuendo (Rennes)

Tottenham must take a step forward in their interest in Arnaud Kalimuendo. The English club will enter into discussions with Rennes management.

While Leverkusen and Newcastle have still not drawn their guns, despite preliminary discussions , Tottenham have decided to accelerate in recent hours in the Arnaud Kalimuendo case (23 years old, under contract until June 2027).

The English side will channel their interest by contacting Rennes management to begin talks. Spurs, however, are yet to make an official offer and are expected to wait to learn more about the Breton side's demands for their striker, who scored 18 goals in all competitions in 34 games last season.

Yeah they really strengthened the club to club relationship when turning down our proposal to rearrange the Europa Conference League game a few years back which dumped us out of the competition 🤣

It's like our relationship with Real Madrid, it will pay off any day now I'm sure

Never heard of the lad but a quick search shows fbref showing similar stat player to Yoanne Wissa and Jonathan David.

Seems to be a smaller, pacy and movement in the box type Striker.

Seems to be consistent around the 1G every 3 matches and has spent about 5 full seasons in Ligue 1 between Lens and Rennes and has passed 10G 3/5 of those. Not a prospect but not in his prime yet either, 2 years left on his contract - so would be in that sweet spot where he can continue to rise in value.

EDIT: Also worth noting - that in 4 of his 5 full seasons in Ligue 1 he has outperformed his npxG

Hmmm, concerned for our CL squad building here and who he ends up replacing considering the needs elsewhere.
