The documentary clearly shows Levy and his cronies going on about the last week being when everything happens. We may not like it but there is reason to have faith that this next week will see us at least get that striker and maybe a centre back if things align nicely. If ours just a striker still feel it’s been an exceptional window.

The problem with leaving it late though is that it opens up the issue of selling clubs needing time to get replacements etc. Plus other clubs suddenly getting involved with players we are pursuing.

Yes we might get more value for money in any deal we pull off, but the later we leave it the more our options run out and the less time we have to react if things go tits up.

I think it’s fine for signings that are a bit of a bonus, but with core signings that we desperately need it’s a very risky strategy imo.

Let’s hope it pays off for us this time, because a lot of the time it does not.

I'm holding out that Vinicius will be the one.

Benfica may now not need to demand a big sum for him after they got a big sum plus a CB for Dias. They may be happy with 30m, although whether we are is another matter.

He's certainly surplus and Benfica may now be able to strengthen in other areas with his sale.
Why is he out of favour?

Jesus (the coach) wanted Nunez and needs another striker who can run into space.

He said in a presser that neither Seferovic nor CV can do that.

Secondly, he's been using Seferovic rather than Vinicius which adds weight to the fact that Vinicius is on the market

You don’t see clubs that are putting silverware in the cabinet pissing about in the last week of the window to fill integral parts of their squad.

Still need a CF, CB and CM.
Gazzaniga, Rose, Foyth, Carter-Vickers, Sissoko and Lamela could all be expendible to free up fee’s, wages and quota spaces.
Lot to do this week.....

If this truly off the table now, sad as I was juts getting onboard. Videos online don’t show him as a great finisher, but I do think he has decent movement and linkup play.

here we go (unconfirmed)

Oh, really?

So City aren't in the process of buying Ruben Dias in the last week of the window? Or they aren't in the business of putting silverware in the cabinet? Which is it?

IMO them signing Dias is no where near the importance level for us signing another senior striker.

Reckon you probably do. Also we’re not owned by a sovereign wealth fund of an emirate, so we have to.

Also, a DM and a RB were pretty critical and we did that. Think you probably have to give them until next Monday before throwing the remaining toys out. And then, by all means.

The problem for me is that we know for a fact that we were looking for a striker in January, it’s now very nearly October - what the fuck have the scouts been doing for 9/10 months.

Really this along with the full back positions should have been our first signings this summer.

Levy was prepared to sign an injured Bale now rather than wait until the very end of the window, yet has sent us into the season again without the player we’ve needed for 18 months.

Our season could be over by Thursday night, save for a race for a Europa league spot and an outside chance of the FA cup. Jose has no choice but to pick Kane for both matches.

We’re not losing to a rabble of rabbis in regalia. Kane can come on if we get stuck.

I’m not saying I love it, only that we know this is what we do and therefore I’m not concerned by the slight lack noise this past couple of days after all the manic excitement around signing Bale.

I must’ve missed Utd conforming Sancho and City wrapping up Dias.

Or are you saying those are less integral our bench option striker?

Our integral part of squad are already filled, other top6 clubs are still trying to buy players as @THFCSPURS19 shows and they did the same last year.

Unless we can agree a deal on financial terms that suit us, we'll always leave it late to apply the squeeze of getting the player for less.

It's always been the way we've operated.

@the lad - do you disagree with the fact we’re not owned by a sovereign wealth fund or with the statement that it’s sensible to not get upset by a thing which has a week to still happen or not?

Are you just annoyed a transfer hasn’t happened on your “pluck a day out of the air” schedule? Nod to the global pandemic too.

We didn’t do that with Ndombele last year?

You can’t tell me that in the space of at least 9 months the club couldn’t find a striker that meets all our criteria including the financials.
