Under two weeks to go for Napoli to stand a chance of getting an ok fee, otherwise they’re in Eriksen territory in January where it becomes a case of sell him for peanuts or he’ll agree a pre contract elsewhere. If anything the Leyton Orient situation will have helped us as now we likely only have 4 fixtures before the deadline (assuming a win in North Macedonia) so we aren’t in a desperate situation that Napoli could leverage. Only hitch is if a more appealing club is thinking the same way, but I’m not sure who would go for him that represents a better option than us at this stage.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if we tease this along until deadline day now. I guess Roma could come back in again but sure I read he has rejected them (hopefully holding out for us)?

I’m struggling to understand who our first choice striker option has actually been this window. We seem to have looked at so many strikers and not made a move for any of them.

It's not supposed to be transparent though. If it was obvious then the selling club would have us over a barrel.

I hope it isn't Milik, personally.

This is exactly why I think it’s looking more & more likely we won’t sign a striker, we went through this in January & now the whole of this summer.

It just seems to me that we aren’t willing to put everything into a certain player & ultimately we will either get a deadline day cheapie or just stick with what we have.

Confident we'll sign a striker but who we get probably depends on who we get in at CB first. It's funny, a lot of the talk this summer has centred around getting in cover for Kane but my feeling is the bigger priority for Mourinho is a quality CB.

Think we probably have a greater pool of potential signings in mind to cover Kane. The club are probably looking to weight their spend towards a quality first team CB. If we were to spend considerably on one of Skriniar or Dias, I think we'd try and do a deal for Milik considering his contract situation up until the end of the window but if we didn't get anywhere with that, will probably see a cheaper option such as Diallo arrive unless the price of say someone like Vinicius comes down towards an acceptable level for us towards the end of the windows.

If neither Skriniar or Dias come off, then maybe we would try and get Kim Min Jae done for a lower fee and then be prepared to put more towards a striker. Obviously, lots will depend on what we bring in from sales. Still feels like there's a lot of variables at play for us in this window.

I’m sure we are just running the clock down and we have a few targets in mind who we can pull the trigger on.

It seems to me as though Jose has had to compromise on some positions to free up funds elsewhere. If skriniar comes in the. I suspect it is at the expense of a more expensive striker and we will now be looking at - Diallo, Deeney, King, etc rather than Daka, Milik, Vinícius unless they come down in price.

Jose’s #1 priority is clearly a striker.

Maybe at the beginning of the window but wouldn't be surprised if it's dawning on Mourinho that Dier as a starter at CB is not a long term solution. Also not convinced he is won over by Sanchez either. Yes in the media, up until now the noise has generally been about us getting a striker but I think the club will be quite happy with the attention being focussed there and then go about there work in getting in a quality CB. Again, no doubt Mourinho wants a striker and will be shocked if weren't to bring one in this window.

For me Sanchez is the problem he has all the physical tools to be a top defender and pace to burn but his reading of the game and positioning is so poor he constantly leaves his partner exposed and tries to react with his pace rather than being proactive.

I’ve watched him many times and I’m clearly missing something. He’s decent but doesn’t ever seem to stand out when I see him play. Finishing is ok, he’s not particularly strong nor quick nor skilful.

I won’t be upset if we sign him but I feel there are better options out there that are more in the Drogba mould.

Think this is the guy we’ll get simply because Napoli need to sell him and we love to squeeze the most value.
