I could see us going for a loan if we make Europa league. I doubt we'll outright buy more than 2 players, so a backup striker on loan would make the most sense.

Why would Napoli loan a player who has a year left on his contract.

Happens a lot tbh. Joe Hart was one, but there are others I can't seem to pull out of my head.

Loan fee + wages covered, and then the 'loaning' team doesn't have to plump up all the contract crap for a player that might not cut it. I assume you avoid paying them more, and signing fees?

Though Milik is clearly a good striker, he screams "not suited to the Prem." He's got height on his side, but other than that, he's lacking all the qualities goal scorers in this league typically have. It's not as glaringly obvious as it was with Soldado or Jansen, but his attributes aren't exactly, Drogba, Henry, Aguero or Suarez like. He's kind of like a poor man's Harry Kane. If you aren't the quickest, like Harry, you've got to be as good an all round player as Kane is and as lethal a finisher. Milik is a good technical player and is good in the air, so he has that, but is he mobile enough or is his finishing or link up play good enough? As a goal scorer isn't he a bit like Giroud, but not as good a finisher? I guess we are in a position where we have to take a punt on players with their contracts running down and also it's hard to attract strikers when we've got Kane.

As a person who watches a ton of Poland matches, I can say that you're not too far off with a poor man Harry Kane comparison. Milik is a really good finisher who likes to drop a little deeper as Kane does and pick a pass or two. He's pretty deadly on set pieces as well.

Memphis Depay is reportedly available for around 30m this summer as his contract expires next summer. I would love to see him get another run at the Premier League with us. I think he's developed into a good striker and has become a very versatile player since he left United.

Jose sold him at United, but spoke very positively about him.

Mourinho said:
"He was a fantastic professional, so if somebody thinks it didn't work because he was not a great professional it is totally wrong. One thing is some picture that somebody takes of him in an amazing car or dressing in a very specific way, but the image is totally wrong.

"The guy is a fantastic professional, he's a kid that respected everyone, a kid that worked hard, who tried to work to have more chances, a kid that was frustrated because he was not having that, but I only have good things to say about him."

Memphis has said that shares mutual respect for Mourinho.

Memphis Depay said:
"I said to Mourinho 'you will see me at the top,'"

"He said, 'OK, I hope that and I hope we will buy you back one day.'

I never had a bad relationship with him."

Time for the reunion? I would prefer him to Milik IMO.

Fantastic work digging up those quotes, that’s a great shout. May well tie in with the “orange” ITK we had.
