I don't disagree that we need depth at CF. I said I'd prefer us to be focussing on broken areas of the first XI. That's where the limited budget should be spent first in my view.

I reckon defensive midfield and centre forward should be our massive priorities.

A tough proper defensive midfield bastard in centre will make such a difference as it’s where we usually are lacking aside from Dier’s brief surge there and that sexy Wanyama debut season.

Of course we do have Skipp but might be a bit too much pressure on him at the moment and like KWP he hasn’t been blooded properly. We just keep using Sissoko instead...

That will make whole team better as will allow attackers to perform and protect the defence.

Centre forward as I said to relieve and kick Kane up the arse when needed.

Other positions such as full back and centre back naturally would like filled too but we have option of KWP coming back (who I still don’t feel should be written off), Tanganga could fill in at right back (would prefer established right back but if we had to do that to free money to get defensive midfielder and centre forward in) and left back Davies is fine we’re just off form at the moment (plus Cirkin is a prospect).

Milik is not a deputy and would cost a ton. We need someone willing to play second fiddle or someone without the name brand value to command a starting position.
I read this all the time and hate this line of thinking, such a small club mentality.

Why are we the one club that should only have one quality striker?

City have Aguero and Jesus, United Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Arsenal have Auba and Lacazette.

FFS we have plenty of minutes to share for 2 quality strikers

We also need that fear there for Kane. I know he's a brilliant professional but if he thinks he's got competition he'll raise his game and start to maybe believe he's in the right place.

Yep and he needs to be rotated when we have say three games in a week.

With a proper centre forward not a makeshift one (although naturally someone like Ollie Watkins who can play wide as well would be a bonus as gives even more options).

Even chelsea has 3 proper number 9 ... Tammy, giroud and mitchy batshuayi. Pool got firmino, origi. Utd got martial/greenwood/igholo, city got aguero/jesus, arsenal got auba/laca ... We have only kane ... That's borderline crime for a team that wants to play ucl.

Remember, every season poch had someone like adebayor/soldado , thn janssen, thn llorente. Only this season Poch didn't get any backup number 9... And Mourinho is also finishing the season without a backup number 9 ...

because DL doesn't pay enough to convince another quality striker to come?

Love this. I have a horrible feeling that we are hobbling ourselves by treating Kane as untouchable.

Good idea to have an incredibly injury prone striker as back up to our injury prone striker. These sort of things never backfire on us.

Absolutely. Imagine how awkward it could get for him if he plays poorly for a few whilst our other striker is banging in the goals in the EL and the cups.

I've not watched a lot of him.

What I'd like to know is..
Is he clever with his off the ball movement?
Is he someone who gets into good positions and understands tactical positioning well?
Does he possess good link up play?

If he ticks all of those boxes I'd be happy as whilst Lucas is a goal threat he's also very unintelligent when it comes to these things.

In a Jose team you need players who can think quickly and know how to spot vulnerable areas. Lucas is very much a 'get on the ball and go type'. We need more intelligent decision makers and cleverer positioning

Have some reservations about Milik but probably a decent deal if it's a straight swap.

We would need to replace Lucas' role in the team though, maybe then this frees up a spot for free agents like Willian and Ryan Fraser etc.

His link up is very good, tbf main reason why he's linked to Juve

Usually deployed as an out-and-out striker, Milik is a versatile and well-rounded left-footed forward who is also capable of playing off another forward as a second striker or as a winger, due to his ability to both score and create goals. He possesses pace and good movement off the ball, as well as a powerful and shooting outside the box, which make him an excellent finisher and goalscorer; he is also physically strong, agile, and a specialist header of the ball, which allows him to excel in the air. His playing style has been compared to that of his compatriot Robert Lewandowski in the Polish sports media.

His record of 0.63 goals per 90 can only be bettered by four players in Serie A, one of which is Cristiano Ronaldo. What is more impressive, however, is the variety of goals he scored.

Milik has struck six of his 17 goals from outside the penalty area and of the 11 he’s managed inside the box, three have been headers, 4 with right foot and 4 with left foot. He’s averaged a 46.8 percent shot accuracy in year 2018-19, too.

Over the past two seasons, Milik is averaging 0.57 open-play goals per 90. When looking at his expected goals average, the Napoli No.99 is on par. But when taking his post-shot expected goals average into account, it doesn’t paint the former Ajax man in a positive light.

For those not familiar with the latter stat, this metric takes into account where the shot was taken from and where the effort lands on target. The elite forwards always have a higher post-shot xG average because, well, they’re better finishers.

Milik is devaluing his chances. A difference of 0.09 might not seem like much but over the course of a 38-game season, it’s a swing of nearly four goals.

As much as I'd like this swap to happen, it doesn't really make sense when you consider Lucas has started every single game he's been fit for under Jose apart from Bournemouth I think.

I understand where youre coming from but if you create chances for Kane I doubt he will think i dont need to score this opportunity because no one is behind me pressuring me in the starting line up.

He definitely needs back up we all know that as he had been burnt to the ground up until this season.
