Like the title says, anyone remember Dave McEwan? Played four games for us in 2000/1. A friend is doing some research on him and is looking for any information going, in particular where he might be now and whether there's any truth to the tale that David Pleat tried to offload Peter Crouch on to Dulwich Hamlet as part of the deal that brought McEwan to WHL.

Any info, fond reminiscences and so on very welcome. I already searched the forums for info and his most noteworthy appearance is in a thread on the worst strikers ever to play for Spurs.

I remember him.

Last seen at Hertford Town, apparently, though a quick look on their website he isn't in their list of current players.

Remember Pleat trying to make comparisons between him and Gary Lineker - I think they had the same colour hair!!! lol. Made his debut at the Lane and spent most of it following the ball without having a touch (Rasiak v Leicester?) was it against Derby or someone similar.

No real help though - sorry!!!

Jesus - dont remind me of that game. Think i switched on the telly and did a double-take when i saw Rasiak...it was like watching a portaloo lead the line. When was that? We have clearly come a LONG way!

The Leicester game I think was 2005/6 season, 3rd rd FA Cup. Two nil and we F***ed it up!!! Another brilliant weekend away with the Yids ruined by the players..... apart from the odd slip we have come on along way!!!

Back to subject, the Derby game that Dave McEwan played in - was that the 1-1 where Stewart Houston took of Le Gin and replaced him with Stephen Clemence??

The Rasiak versus Leicester Performance:oops:

I remember he tried to control a ball from the keeper and his touch ended up in row z and that is not even exaggerating!

Yep, that's the one! He played a reserve game vs Chavski during the week beforehand and scored a couple of crackers by all accounts.

I remember he was signed with loads of 'rumours' that he was a secret super waepon that had been hidden away in the no leagues but was gonna be a big big star, Roy of the Rovers stuff. I remember being seduced by the rumours and hoping that he'd be our next superstar.
Never saw him play but seems he didn't fulfill the fanfare....but then Doherty, Gardner, Etherington and Davies were signed around the same time and never achieved superstar status either.

Used to really like Clemence, thought i'd check out how he got on. This is taken from his wiki profile:

"Clemence's injury woes started when he suffered a torn medial ligament in his left testicle, following a collision with Blackburn Rovers midfielder Garry Flitcroft."

Poor bastard.

:eek:mg: Ouch!! Didn't something similar happen to Justin Edinburgh?

Apparently with swelling in the "lower regions" the only jock strap he could fit into was that of Mitchell "the Zulu" Thomas - it was still too big (Mitchell's jock strap that is!) according to reports from the dressing room!
