That's the issue clubs like Spurs face.

When all players are at the top of their game, we are a match for anybody. But there's a reason we drop points / lose cup games we should win, and that's because players don't stay motivated for every game, or have lapses in concentration.

If they do that at a club like Man City (and now Arsenal in recent years), then they can be swapped out easily. There are consequences for standards being allowed to slip. So players are always playing at close to the top of their game, which in turn raises the overall quality of a team because good players always look even better when the players around them are also performing at their peak.

With us, it's not like we can just switch Romero out without a noticeable drop in quality. He knows this (consciously or subconsciously), and therefore the team has sloppy moments in games.

As a result we don't just concede goals we shouldn't; the overall quality of the team is reduced and we are less effective.

I didn’t mean it in that context, I meant in the context of making 8 changes for a cup game if you win it’s irrelevant if you loose you get hung!

i don’t believe we will play that badly again, it was horrific against Coventry they missed 2-3 tap ins.

bents and Sarr will struggle to be that bad again, they are normally consisten.

You could well be right, his lapses have certainly become more frequent lately
