£35 Million.

Geez, thats an aweful lot of money for someone as poor as that. Current form, £5 million tops.

Think the government should get Mike Ashley in to sort out the financial crisis if he can pull off deals like that.

Feel for Carrol though, not his fault he is worth that, and by all accounts he didn't even want to leave Newcastle.

But I still can't help but LOL about the whole deal.

And to think I was actually a little annoyed we didn't get him (although I honestly think he'd be better suited in our team with how we play, rather than being up top alone).

Its shocking and im not entirely sure its just his form thats the problem. I personally cant see him ever coming good.

Same here Yawa, which also makes me question my own judgement because I thought he'd be good for us.

:-D

Haha.

If they wanted someone up front who cant shoot straight and whose only asset is heading the ball. They might as well have signed Samba for under 10 million.

Did Alan Shearer say he was "crap" last night on TV? I didn't see that game for obvious reasons.

He's have a very poor time of it but I think there's a good player in there and if Liverpool don't want him then he'll end up a bargain for someone. Maybe the big more came a little early for him. Be fair on the kid though, he's playing in a shit side.

His off field behavior doesn't help. Drinking, fighting and punching women, I know he's a Geordie but he won't get very far unless he acts like a pro. He doesn't have the natural ability that Gazza had but he's headed in the same direction.

He's got the attributes, but not the application. Mix that with poor confidence and you have a player completely off song.

Newcastle literally played everything through him, they are a very direct side and he was a hero up there playing for his boyhood club. The fee, lack of regular games, lack of confidence and Liverpool's style of play are all contributing factors to Carroll looking poor. Liverpool have spent/wasted a lot of money on over priced overrated English players.

Couldnt agree more. Throw in Joe Cole to the mix as another

Let me know why you think theres a good player in there as id love to know. Yesterday he ran with the ball and hes so bloody clumsy he tripped over the ball and knee'd it out for a throw in or corner.

You could have watched Torres for the last 12 months having not watched the game of football before and think in what galaxy is this guy worth £50mill?? He like Carroll are both severely struggling mentally and playing for the wrong teams. Carroll had half a season at Newcastle in the EPL and looked that part but it just hasn't worked out for him at Liverpool in the last 12 months.
It might just be me, but I think if Torres was put into our side right now he would actually score goals again. :)

Liverpool haven't exactly helped him have they? They don't play to his strengths and they keep dropping him which doesn't really help the confidence.

he only went for £35m because Torres went for £50m and Lolpool were desperate.

To be honest we were that desperate for a striker at the time I think many of us were hoping he could do a job for us. It's easy to feel relieved in hindsight considering we have Ade now.

Who would you rather have currently if you were forced? Crouchy or Carrol?

In fact who would you rather have Carrol or Pav?

I really wanted him before he went to Liverpool. I'm glad Harry doesn't ring me for advice.

When we were linked with him last January I thought he'd be a good choice for us upfront. But I can honestly say even when we supposedly bid 18 million I thought it was to much.

I think how Daglish has handled him at Liverpool has been pretty shocking. I can't see him ever turning it around at Liverpool, and the sooner he gets a move, the better for him.

Thats why you shouldnt spend 35m on someone who has had 6 months of good football

Same here although I didn't want him when it became clear how much we'd have to pay :)

He did look good in that newcastle team though, he was banging them in with both feet and his head, and bringing others into play.
