So off the back of a couple of minor cup games, Andros is back in the England squad:

Rose's fleeting England career seems over before it begins, seeing as Roy has named only 6 defenders?!

England squad

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Ben Foster (West Bromwich Albion), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), John Stones (Everton).

Midfielders: Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).

Forwards: Rickie Lambert (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Daniel Welbeck (Arsenal).

Hodgson owes him a lot. His brilliant performance against Montenegro was significant in England qualifying for the World Cup, and he supported Hodgson during the "feed the monkey" controversy. You could argue he saved Hodgson's job twice.

Now more people gonna hate Townsend if he's being quoted as the reason for keeping Hodgson in his job ;)

Have to say that some of the comments from Spurs fans on Twitter about Townsend's call up are horrible, just typifies the mentality we have at WHL

No disrespect to the lad, but doesn't this just tell you how hard up England are for players? He's barely played for us. So who was dropped for him then from the Switz squad?

I like a manager to be truthful.
But it's very strange that he brought Sterling on as a sub after he said he was tired. Was it part of his "feud" with Brendan?
I would have thought that Andros who is busting a gut to play and who scored a cracking goal and made some good passes in the previous game was a better option.
Andros is in worse condition then Sterling. He has only completed 90mins 3 times this season or 4 times this year
