According to skysports

Reports in Croatia claim that Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a deal for international midfielder Anas Sharbini.
The 25-year-old is currently playing in Saudi Arabia after signing for Al Ittihad in the summer from Hajduk Split.
But Spurs are reportedly very keen on the Sharbini and his agent says they want to do a deal.
"It is true, Sharbini is close to moving to England," Ned Kujundzic told Vecernji.
"His club Al Ittihad and Tottenham are in talks about transfer and I can only say that Spurs really wants Anas. It is now up to clubs to agree transfer."

Whoever he is, if we do sign him, we should sing his name in tune with this...

Heard that he failed in the Croatian League so moved to Suadi Arabia. Don't need players like this imo

It's a strange one, but didn't our coach Luis Martins work in Saudi Arabia before joining us? Maybe he had some say in it...

He was the coach of their national team but think that was before this guy moved to the country

from reading more it doesn't sound like he as such failed in the croatian league but had a lot of different managers and actually had a good end to that part of his career before moving to Al Ittihad. His goal scoring is pretty good as well for a midfielder and is meant to be decent with both feet

I read this in a Croatian report a couple of days ago (via a report in Saudi Arabia), but didn't think it was valid enough to post. Didn't think it would reach the English media (as it was basically laughed off in Croatia).

Sharbini definitely didn't "fail in the Croatian League." He was without doubt one of the best players. Talent/skill-wise he is right up there. That's never been the problem with him. All to do with his head and inconsistency. Otherwise he'd already be a house-hold name. No question.

The word now is that he may be coming in on a trial, although I have no idea how they'd figure to get a work permit for him. Basically, I won't believe it until I see it.

He's someone who should already be a regular in the NT and playing in a top league (had he developed the way he should have). Never took the next step, again mainly to do with his head. But he's someone who could wow you given the opportunity. Just hasn't been able to do it consistently. And that's the reason why it's seen as a ridiculous rumour amongst Croatians.

Definitely didn't "fail" (as mentioned in my previous post). He's actually very right footed, but it's his ability to pass with the outside of his boot that sets him apart. Uncanny how accurate he is. You've seen Modric do it a number of times, but Sharbini has played so many of those over the years. A number of assists have come that route. He usually plays as an attacking mid on the left side. Good at cutting in and having a go (good long distance shot) and crossing (again, with the outside of his boot). During the last year at Hajduk he also played a number of games centrally (behind the striker).

This is an example of one of those outside of the boot passes:

Not his best, but you get the idea. Many assists in that manner.

Again, talent/skill-wise he is good enough. Problem is, that often isn't enough at this level.
