An odd thing happened on Thursday

My Thursday night started the same as most of yours I presume. Harry Kane!? Oh god, my nihilistic Spurs instinct is kicking in. What's the point in it all!? And at first, it went the way I thought it would, our high line let a ball through to easily and it was 1-0, stupid loss of possession, bad defending a set piece 2-0. Then something strange happened, Eriksen stepped up to take a free kick, and I knew it was going in, just knew it was going to fly into the corner and sure enough it did. After that, I was on the edge of my sofa, actually believing that we were going to come back and win this game, I just knew it. Ultimately yes, I realize that was not the case. But it was such a foreign feeling, believing in my team again. I had not felt it in such a long time.

It dawned on me yesterday that what Sherwood said to the media about the players can easily apply to us, the fans. Ask not what this club can do for you, but what can you do for this club. The players are not the only ones with a certain lack of character this season. I feel we are also highly accountable.

So this is my rally cry, let's not go gently into that good night and once more to the breach my friends once more to the breach. We are Tottenham, the mighty f****** Tottenham. We pioneered English football, we are a team of glory. Something to be proud of. So let's act like it, let's get behind the team, staff, chairman. Let's follow them into the gates of hell, with no holding midfielder, and it doesn't matter because we'll FACKIN' RAN AROUND A BIT!

I liked it, but there's no way we're playing this game without Sandro..

I was also sure Eriksen would score

I also thought after we scored we would go on to draw or maybe even sneak a win and keep the tie alive

My belief quickly died when we failed to react positively and kick on and just let a third in to kill the tie off once more

I'm expecting a big reaction tomorrow - if there isn't one than these players don't have the mental strength or inner passion to have the right to wear that shirt and the season will be over and a good number of these players will need to be sold and replaced with players who will show the passion for the shirt

Been saying this since day one. We are partly accountable for performances at home. The players probably hate playing at home with us being silent for long periods, moaning when players make mistakes, booing after pretty much every defeat. Champions League football has changed us fans and we are turning into.. well... Arsenal..

Yeah, would obviously love Sandro to play. But I'm not going to sit around and berate the team for the rest of the season. We should all try harder to get behind the team, there's not long left now till the end of the season, so we should be getting fully behind the team. We've been down and out about them since we lost to West Ham. I was speaking to a Man City friend of mine the other day and asking if he's upset about being knocked out of two cups in the matter of a week. And he said he's just happy that they're not playing Gillingham. And my united friends who are convinced they'll win the next game they play and that it's about to all turn around for them (although I enjoy immensely when it doesn't). It's that kind of attitude I feel we lack here at Spurs, we have had some pretty bad hardships recently but we should get up and get behind the team again or at least smile through gritted teeth. Walker in midfield, genius Tim! Naughton as left back, bravo! At least until the season is out let's give the team our unconditional support, you gets?

Funny how different people react to things. When Eriksen stepped up, I had a feeling he was going to score, but when he did I didn't react at all. Not a sound, not even a smile. It didn't change my feelings toward the game at all, as I knew it wasn't going to make any difference to the result.

The worst bit was that it was the kind of reaction I'd have as a neutral watching two teams I had no emotional connection to. Spurs this season have left me feeling numb.

I'm glad it's not just me, I feel exactly the same way. Numb and apathetic. The only light at the end of the tunnel is that we might get a proper manager over the summer and have something to get excited about again. Although with Levy at the helm, we're bound to end up back here sooner rather than later anyway.

I don't know if anyone here watches much NBA - but if teams aren't near the top, they often go into 'rebuild' mode, where they trade off their good players for draft places in order to get the best young talent so they can compete again in a few years time.

After selling Bale and getting in all our 'draft picks', I think this season has been a rebuild one. Which is a shame, as we were competing pretty well last season. The same thing happened to my NBA team, the Nuggets - we got 3rd in the West last season and now we're sitting 14th, 10 wins away from 13th or 15th. The rest of the season is meaningless. So it's mainly being used to blood in the young guys, and ensure we come out strong next season.

Unfortunately Spurs are about 2 losses away from 7th or 8th. So we can't do that. But we can bring in a better coach, with all the players having been here for a year already.

So come the end of the season, then Levy should hand Sherwood his P45, a large cheque, hug him then whisper in his ear, "You did alright mate. You did alright." and bring in LVG before the players come back, so he has the whole pre-season to analyse the players - and still pick Lennon. :ROFLMAO:

I don't know if we can get 4th place this season, but I know we can set ourselves up well to do it next season. Maybe by actually beating one of our top 4 competitors?

Agreed that LVG should probably come in the summer, but do you not think it is detrimental to the team not to be behind them until the end of the season anyway?

Yeah, we still gotta support the team. We're not out the race for 4th place yet!

I thought it was just me.......i am sick of feeling like this, absolutely nothing left in the emotion tank, Levy has really fucked it this time, i have always backed him....get the next one wrong and he must fuck off with the next flop.

I too knew he'd score, I even said to my son "How comes he's so good at free kicks and so shit at corners" as he's waiting to take the kick (there was a delay if you recall). My reaction was the same, I saw the ball go in, I had a large grin on my face but didn't get to my feet, there definitely seems an emotional disconnect this season, watching the collapse against 'Pool was quite surreal, I felt completely detached and so it was all the worse watching the team fall apart in front of my eyes.

I'm knocking it on the head after this season to allow the fire in my belly a chance to rekindle, I've watched far worse teams than this one and enjoyed the games with a passion, something's missing at home without a doubt.

I'd give tomorrow the body swerve but I don't know anybody who wants my tickets. How sad is that all round?

My déjà vu thread being ignored is a prime example.

Is that in reference to this one? Sorry buddy, didn't mean to step on your toes!

Ha no I mean your post about fans being crap. My thread was kind of about the same thing but no one seems interested. Have a look.

I have found this interesting, maybe slightly disturbing, almost as if people are enjoying the slump. Maybe it's because at the end of the day, this is an internet forum but people don't seem that bothered or realize the real concern that apathetic fans have on the club
