Makes you wonder why we didn't loan in the summer. Maybe not the interest available. But we already had 4 centre backs and Gray, we've had as bad a list of injuries to centre backs as likely to have and he doesn't get a game. Seems odd we kept him around first half of the season.

He was still recovering from the injury and surgery at the end of last season

I didn't say it was a negative towards Dorrington but it was a negative statement.

I just don't see it as two fingers at anyone, it's just a good move for us, Aberdeen and Alfie.
I absolutely agree. It seems a great move.
I guess i meant more that it would be somewhat ironic if Aberdeen feel he is ready to play against Rangers, when we didn't.

We probably do feel he is ready, but had better options.

Yes Gray is a midfielder, but had been playing well in defence and already further developed in ability and integrated into first team football at Leeds and then us.

Would it be ironic if we had Romero and VDV playing Vs rangers and he was on the bench Vs rangers still? No because players with higher ability started ahead of him!

He might develop to be as good or better than the ones that played, but loans like this will help.

Came on on at 64 minutes for Aberdeen. Losing 1-0 but rangers scored early in the first half.

From the highlights it looks like he had a tough start to his life in Aberdeen. They were losing 1-0 when he came on but he air kicked a clearance from a corner which resulted in another cross coming in which Rangers scored their 2nd from. The 3rd was a disaster for him as he let the ball bounce over his head on the halfway line, then slipped over as he tried to recover, giving the striker a pretty clear run through on goal. Still, it’s his first game and it was in front of a large hostile crowd. A steep learning curve for the lad, but hopefully it’s the making of him.

It wasn’t as bad as made out he got caught under it and slipped. He has hardly played any football, will take a while to settle in.

The SPFL will be a good loan for him if they’re looking at building him up physically

I get that we are trying to develop him but is this the wisest move given our current injuries. It’s pissing me off that Ange won’t give some of these lads a chance when the team is falling apart

We are starting two 18-yos, we have a 17-yo making contributions.

Ange is not afraid of starting young players - if they are ready.

Donley had a bad start at Orient and now he is doing really well. This is why loans are great, a tough loan will make a man of him if he is strong enough.

Exactly this. It does offer backing to why Ange didn't throw him straight in, but now he is loan let's see where he is in a few months.

A lot of players do need some adaptation time to step up to senior football and Donley is a great example. Really hope Dorrington learns from both the good and bad and grows in confidence.

COuld be a number of reasons, but we know Ange isn't averse to throwing the youngsters in, so maybe just didn't feel like he was ready for it, I know he was injured for a while, but could be physically ready or mentally ready.

A loan to aberdeen is going to be great for him, and even coming on against Rangers is some great experience too.
