A loan now he's fully fit again would do him a world of good, he needs to be playing senior football. Aberdeen started the season so well but I just looked at their results and they've been in a proper funk, could probably do with some fresh legs to re-energise their season.

Good for his development
Would have liked to see him feature today but makes senses why he was held back
Only concern is that by sending him outbid loan, we further reduce our number of eligible defenders

Of course, Davies should be back soon and vdv and Romero by the end the month but surely it’s prudent to have at least one more fit defender in the squad. It’s not like we can hang out hats in any of the senior players staying fit for the rest of the season

Similar to Phillips during last seasons centre back epidemic, he doesnt seem likely to feature regardless of how many injuries we have at the back.
If he can get a decent loan and get some experience of senior football under his belt it should hopefully benefit his development.

Gray, Spence seem to be preferred at CB over Dorrington so he def needs a loan

I agree but with udogie out for the foreseeable, it doesn’t leave spence with much opportunity for rest.
tbf I don’t think anyone was expecting to see as much of Reguilon as we have done. Maybe he’ll be fully reintegrated?

A lad I play football with is a huge dons fan, asked him last night about their CB situation.

He said the normal starters are Rubezic and Molloy, with a lad MacDonald as back up. Molloy is injured now for most of the season, and he’s said Rubezic has been howling recently. MacDonald who filled in for Molloy was so bad he was hooked for a CM mid game. They did just sign a boy called Tobers from Grasshoppers last week, who made his debut yesterday.

He did think though that Dorrington should get his chance and if he’s good will stick in the team. Also said if he’s good at dealing with long balls he’s a shoe in, apparently that’s been an area of concern no matter who Aberdeen roll out at CB. Sounds like he’s not trying to break up an established well oiled CB partnership, which is a good sign.

Hopefully he gets plenty of game time. Don't know if he needs toughening up, but I'd think playing for Aberdeen would do it if so!

"Who is our fourth choice left back as everyone else is crocked or knackered", I guess
We've only got Udog as a specialist though, right? Davies, VDV, Spence, Archie- square pegs...

Guess Spence will get the nod for the Derby

Anyway, to just about stay on topic, good luck Alfie- come back stronger!

Surely that must mean we have a new CB coming in?

Doubt it.

Ange opted to play Gray & Spence at CB before Dorrington, so he's hardly a big miss.

Plus Davies/Romero/VDV will all return within the next month.

Doubt it with how well Gray is doing plus we have so much talent coming through in the next year in the position. We do need more depth in LB/LCB which I'd hope we will address in the summer.

Unless it’s a LB/LCB like Hincapie (or similar as I don’t believe it’ll be him), I can’t see is adding a CB.

Agreed, with Phillips, Vuskovic and now Dorrington developing on loans, I’m not sure the club would invest in another CB at this stage knowing they could be overloaded next season. I think another LB who ‘may’ be able to deputise at CB, a more mobile Davies if you like, would be the most beneficial outcome, and even that feels harsh on Davies.

There's also the beneficial financial implications of bringing through academy lads and selling to consider. I'm not saying this is what we're doing here with Alfie he seems highly rated, but it makes good sense to maximise our ability to spend (lol) by having plenty of talent coming from the academy to offset that in terms of PSR, particularly if they're not quite at the level we need.
