Don't want to get too deep into it here but this argument is somewhat akin to the "All Lives Matter" refrain in that it slightly misses the point.

The reason why it's okay for people to comment about the attractiveness or otherwise of a male player is because, overwhelmingly, that is not what male footballers are judged on. They are judged first and foremost on their ability as footballers.

That has not always been the case for women footballers. And is still not always the case. So the more that football fans can do - or avoid doing - to help change ingrained attitudes, the better. That means we have to be little more careful. And yes, that does mean being somewhat PC. It's a small price to pay.
I'm not even judging her football ability by her looks though? So I cannot say someone is attractive or looks good in the kit in the photoshoot? Look I get it if I said something actually sexualising her or saying 'she should be in the kitchen not the pitch' and literally demeaning her football ability, but I didn't. This is what I don't get and never will.

I'm not going on about this anymore because this could go on all day. I totally understand what you're saying. Let's leave it at that.

Not having a go at you, mate. My comment wasn't about your original comment. It was about the general argument that if it's okay to mention a male footballer's looks, it must therefore be okay to mention a female footballer's looks. It is a false equivalence.

I feel like we've reached a point where it's become completely acceptable to over-sexualise men in a brash, semi-ironic way and yet for a man to even mention a woman's looks is deemed sexist. I get where that comes from - it's a reaction to men excessively leering over women for years in a chauvinistic way - but I also find it kind of ironic that, rather than balancing out, it's just swung in the other direction.

Maybe it's a bit of a niche area, but on film twitter, letterboxd and other social networking sites, I've found I see women (and also some men) sexualising male celebrities constantly. Tenet comes out and half the comments are "Robert Pattinson would totally get it" and often that's the entire comment/review. I have nothing wrong with that personally - if people want to share it that's absolutely their right - but I can't help but be a bit uncomfortable about the double standards of it all.

I suppose over time it will naturally balance out and this is all just a process but the self righteousness annoys me. You can't have it both ways: either we just acknowledge that we're all sexual beings and some people are attractive or we are all polite and try to ignore it. How are 500 jokes about letting Gazza bang your Mrs totally fine, yet a couple of comments on how fit Alex Morgan is (and let's be honest here, she is really fit) deemed unacceptable?

Sorry for being lazy and not researching this myself, but what position do her team mates we also signed play in? Could they provide her with the service possibly?

As far as I can see new signing Kennedy plays midfield and I think she played against Everton but in both games Spurs created very few chances , more ominous is that Spurs weren't at all impressive against West Ham and Woolwich demolished West Ham last week so our women need to step up the pace quickly.

I think our women are going to be a side to look out for when she gets going, especially with the two she knows already. First game is Arsenal isn't it?

Yea they've got quite a horrible run of fixtures tbh.

Arsenal - fa cup

Then league games

City
Man U
Arsenal

Very tough run. Won't be easy for Morgan who hasn't played for a year. And the spurs ladies team is not the most creative either.

Love how articulate she is...i’m used to hearing male footballers/pundits talking nonsense. I think the men’s game could probably learn a few things in that respect.

Though Lol at Papapiah and the King getting their flirt on.

Question: how has she played so few club matches (yet almost 200 for the States)? I can’t say I follow women’s club football, do they just have very few club matches in a season?

I’m still amazed we managed to get her, a world superstar.

Wonder if she’ll stay longer than the season?

Guess it depends on a few things. Whether she settles in London with a new-born, gels with teammates and enjoys the league and club, enjoys the winter weather etc.

When you say "enjoys the winter weather", you mean in comparison with Orlando?
