Sky Sports understands Tottenham Hotspur are no longer interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb teenager Alen Halilovic.

Speculation has claimed that Spurs are closing in on the capture of the 17-year-old, who has already made three appearances for Croatia.

Spurs were interested in Halilovic during the summer after being linked with a double swoop for the midfielder and his former team-mate Tin Jedvaj.

Defender Jedvaj ultimately joined Serie A leaders Roma and it is understood that Spurs are not planning a fresh attempt to sign Halilovic.

The youngster, who has been compared to former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric, is out of contract at Dinamo at the end of the season and would reportedly cost £12million.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas significantly strengthened his midfield options during the transfer window after signing the likes of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli.

Villas-Boas has also seen Brazilian midfielder Sandro return to fitness and Andros Townsend emerge as a first-team regular following the winger's impressive loan spell at Queens Park Rangers last season.

He's not though is he? End of youth contract I believe.

Munich signed Halilovic

That's all stemming from a report out of Italy (sportsmediaset):

Alen Halilovic '96 is the world's most wanted. A natural talent, superfine, for all predestined. The interest of Tottenham is no longer a news story, a couple of months old when anticipammo exclusive meetings, raise, real pressure. At that time the Spurs were strong even on Jedvaj, to the point that the defender even went to London before the resounding counterattack Rome, who summoned the president Mamic in Trigoria and closed the operation. Tottenham continues to raise to Halilovic, wants to offer the moon, but the father of the boy is now very puzzled and will be difficult to change your mind. Also because the London market considers a prestigious club but not with the right appeal for her son. That's because it plays to the upside. Among other things Halilovic at this time is playing little, but the relationship with Mamic is excellent, as from father to son. That's why there are no reprisals despite the expiring contract and is not renewed, despite a few months ago there were assumptions (and also Milan had tried). The father of Halilovic wait, but we understand that a free opportunities will be there. The important novelty: in recent weeks there have been contacts armored with Bayern Monaco, a club in the front row, ready to provide the right figures. Bayern would especially appeal right, only Real Madrid and Chelsea could come into competition. The Germans do not want to deal with Dinamo Zagreb, expect the latest decisions of ... Halilovic home, but they are already in pressure, the boy's '96 love it.

*****

He's had "exclusives" that he's been wrong about in the past. I've seen some German SKY Sports reporters referring to that article and other claiming that said German reporter claimed it was a "done deal, that he signed for next season." But from what I can gather, it all goes back to the above sportsmediaset report (out of Italy).

Interesting re: Bayern. If his Dad really wants him to get playing time, then he'd be a moron to send him to Bayern.

Whatever. Good luck to the kid but it looks like he's not for us for a number of reasons

This is the original story, which has someone been translated to "Halilovic signed for Bayern":

Bayern Monaco, the champion Halilovic arriving at zero cost

The Jewel Croatian chose the Bavarian company: snubbed Tottenham

In a few months of waiting and even Pep Guardiola will have its own Messi. It is Lionel, blindatissimo in Barcelona, ??but what has long been considered his heir European Alen Halilovic. The talented 1996 class of Dinamo Zagreb, out of contract at the end of the season, there is the pressure of Tottenham and half of Europe, but the Bayern to occupy the pole position in the player's preferences. A good shot at zero for the next 20 years.

Bayern Monaco proves to be a pioneer, forward several feet from the competition and light years from Italian companies. Planning, Economic Policy and perfect scouting for a certain level. The rest is done by the appeal that the Bavarian company has built winning on the field. After the Triple arrived Guardiola, the best manager in the world. Now it could also get a "Messi", Alen Halilovic, Croatian fenomento than 17 years already sought by clubs all over Europe. In addition to cost in spite of the millions of pounds proposed by the Tottenham Dinamo Zagreb.

But Bayern is Bayern and the president of Dinamo, Mamic understand. Yes, because the proposals for the 1996 class gem there. Even Inter, Juventus and AC Milan in their time were concerned, before the price potential is elevasse spropositamente. But Halilovic, but especially the father, chose Bayern and little can be done to change his mind. The goodness of the German company is a guarantee for the future of this boy and the wily father knows. No matter what the Spurs have put on your plate as many as 20 million pounds, Halilovic is designed to leave Croatia at no cost. For Bayern a champion at zero cost, just like Messi for Barca. He, however, has already made ??his debut in the Champions League (0-2 Dinamo-PSG) and has disfigured despite the indifference of Ibrahimovic.

And that's why you're not a football scout

I'm not denying for a moment that the kid has talent, but for a team in our position, could this money not be better spent elsewhere? What about Eriksen? Townsend? Lamela? Lennon?

Looks to me like this kid either likes playing as a left footer on the Right, or in the middle. We're well covered there with young players with lots of potential.

It would appear that he's a rare talent, which is why we're pushing for him, but if he comes with all this bloody baggage then for the money being talk about I don't think it's a no brainer.

p.s. were I football scout, I could have spent more time watching him, than just purely his clips on Youtube. I presume you've spent months studying every aspect of the guy?

Well he's ether going to be a hell of a player an he'll break into an impossibly good Bayern midfield in a couple of years, or he'll be available cheaper from their reserves...

Dinamo's sporting director (Zoran Mamic) denied the news of a move to Bayern and said Halilovic is to sign a new deal with the club.

He added that Bayern have been following Halilovic for a year-and-a-half, but that the reports that came out yesterday are not true.

It's not unreasonable to think we could probably get Bakkali for less than what's being mooted for Halilovic. I think Bakkali is the next big thing and he looks like the type of player who could transition into the EPL quickly given his fire hydrant frame. For me, I'd much rather have Bakkali than Halilovic, especially when you take into account the "other stuff (i.e. Sejad). I really hope we turn our attention. though.

Its not unreasonable but that will be bloody hard too, Chelsea, arsenal and both the Manc clubs have been linked with him as well.

Would love to see him (bakkali) at spurs though -certainly looks the real deal from what I have seen of him (only a couple of games admittedly)
