Back on Thursday night.
Should be another great season. Pretty open.
As much as I hate it Richmond looking good during pre-season.
Melbourne to be the big improvers I think.
Crows will be around the mark again.
Way to hard to make to many predictions yet. Lets see where things are at after round 2.

Ahh the Demons. They are not travelling well at the moment. They are a proud club and its sad to see where they are at now. They remind me a bit of Forest to be honest!
Bumping this thread which is created 9 years ago

Update- I have since moved to Melbourne ( in 2015) the home of AFL moving from perth

- I have been to games at the MCG and adopted Richmond Tigers when I met my Missus when I first moved to Melbourne , they have since won 3 premierships in that time

- The Demons have also won a premiership (in 2021) since this response from AussieSpurman

- I don’t mind the sport now, it’s very physical in comparison to The football we are used to in England and the umpire let’s a lot go it’s tough to watch footballers go down so easy after watching this sport

Is AFL far more entertaining than football (soccer)?
It can really depend. A pulsating game of Association Football at the highest level is hard to beat.

Maybe a run of the mill North Melbourne v St kilda game can be more entertaining than Wolves v Nottingham forest but football has so many clubs , styles and variances not every game can be exciting

AFL sample size is far smaller but it certainly has its entertaining moments for sure. The drama of promotion/Relegation and the pure emotion just can’t be matched in the AFL though

Spurs alone as a club have been an entertaining rollercoaster

Do you man Australian Football? The acronym is Australian Football League hehe

I haven't watched a game for two years, growing up I was a die hard West Coast Eagles fan

The Eagles have not had a lot to cheer about recently.
Neither have my beloved Crows.
Should be an interesting season coming up.
@mattdefoe get yourself to the MCG to see Richmond v Collingwood.
The atmosphere will blow your mind.

Yeah see the difference there is, Adelaide haven't had much to cheer about this century!

I'm hoping that The Lions can change things around this season and actually take form into the finals. Went to see them beat Collingwood the other week and did it without really playing well

Well here we are in a new season. I am lamenting the Crows accuracy. We really should be top right now.
Enthused about the season. Lots of teams playing well. Should be a ripper.

Random bit here that @aussiespursguy knows already. Sat next to Will Gould of Swans on a flight from Sydney to Adelaide a few months back. He had to endure a .half hour of questions from this Yank (me) who had a kindergarten understanding of the sport. Fantastic guy who was smart and engaging. Had the same relatable personality as NHL players as opposed to NBA, NFL or MLB. will now watch a game or 2 when it plays over here due to his ambassadorship

My new favourite sport.

I love watching it at the weekend when it's on in the morning.

If I was 20 years younger I'd definitely be having a go.

What a game I just watched.

The final five minutes just had me on my feet as I had a morning coffee

I'm pretty obsessed at the moment and learning the game. I'm not going to choose a team until we find out if we're able to move to Oz which is probably very unlikely but you gotta try right?!

But what has surprised me is my obsession is over the tactics. I can't help but wonder if you had a Pep managing one of these teams what would he do? I know that sounds ridiculous but sometimes they break out these beautiful passing plays and it reminds me of our football.

Too many mullets and taches though...😂

A belter so far. Richmond v Geelong. @Albertbarich you wanna find a catch up of this.
A wounded Richmond v the premiers Geelong.
A really open game so far. Poor kicking from Geelong giving Richmond the lead

Watching it now!

The joys of being a stay at home dad. It's like watching a Jose Mourinho team teach a young tiki taka coach a lesson in being clinical.

Its a great game but a lot of mistakes.
Still back Geelong at the end. Too strong i think.
Got to kick straight though.
So you wanna move here?

Geelong can't seem to finish

Yeah the missus has applied to two jobs which would hopefully mean we could come over as a family but it's a long way off , she has to get the jobs, I'm old so not sure they would even let me come under her visa and then of course money etc , but we're going to try
