For me the only reason is he is the kind of top class midfielder we need and the other probable top targets are out of our reach esp with high transfer fees expected for them.

I get this, but the lad is still 23 and I believe poch is the type of person to be able to change someone's attitude when they are still this young. We also have a squad with excellent camaraderie, which I believe will also help. He'll also be there with the French captain who I'm sure he looks up to.

But then this could all be pointless as he probably won't sign for us.

I'm going on the assumption that he did. If he didn't then I will clearly hold my hands up and am saying all this as if he did. I can't imagine the entire media is wrong then again I wouldn't be surprised given I suspect they're all using the same source.

Dont know if anything around the rumours or Rabiots comments are true.
But i think we should leave this player well alone. He seems like a troublemaker and has this bafoon proven anything on the pitch? Been playing for a oil-money-doped team in a lesser league. Not even a part of the national team.

Not at all, I was jesting however it all fits in with the picture of him that has emerged over time and I have not seen any stories to the contrary. Personally I have never watched him and come away with the same impression of his ability as him so I don't see the quality that I would be happy risking the problems he is likely to bring with him for.

Would I be surprised if Rabiot said this? Probably not, but frankly some of the reactions on here are laughable. There's no need to be SO defensive. Who cares if he thinks we're below him. Some would consider that ambitious as much as it is arrogant. More importantly though, it's just as possible that he was asked about interest from Spurs and Barca and he may have said that he is flattered by interest but that a club of Barca's stature is more appealing to him than Spurs. Not hard for some journalist to spin that into "Rabiot believes Spurs are below him".

That's a very reasonable assessment, but I for one want blood!

It's probably best that we don't get close to him as his mam and Levy would hate each other so much they'd probably end up banging on the negotiating table and Mrs. Levy would smash out all the fire alarms again.
