Over the last few weeks -- whether online or on TV, I've heard a lot of pundits talking about the time it takes for foreign players to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. Now, like many of you, I've been watching Spurs for many, many, many years, and by virtue of this, have some insight into the characteristics of the league we play in. Now, while in some ways I agree that it takes time to settle... and that our league is unique in it's physical demands, I also believe that we are a completely different age. Even five years ago, this old adage held true. But not today. Not with the yearly influx of players who played elsewhere. I think the time to adjust is much less now. Increasingly we see players come in from other leagues and have an immediate impact. Take Super-Jan -- to me, he needed about 6 weeks to get-up-to-speed. Look at how Paulihno, Capoue and Erickson (albeit one game), have settled in. The league is very different. I wonder, however, how much this change will impact the traditional personality of our league? Still all guts and glory? Or is it evolving into something else? If so... what?

I remember someone talking about the spanish players. How they used to be weak and you could bully them. The the first wave of players from spain went back tougher. They taught the other players how to cope with the physicality. This next generation of players went on to win basically everything.
Think it's the same with the other leagues. The players come over here and learn the best bits of our game and take it back with them. This means that is no longer such a shock for foreign players arriving.

The premier league is less physical than 10-20 years ago but it is very fast paced, some players take time to adjust some dont, I think you have to recruit the right players and there are more physical leagues than the premier league I am sure. I think it does take time I am sure some of our players will have dips and others will take longer to find there feet.
