Like Look of him: Charlton's Ademola is wanted by THREE Premier League clubs
Chelsea are leading the chase for Charlton starlet Ademola Lookman.

Forward Lookman, 18, has burst onto the scene this season and attracted the attention of some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

He has scored three times in seven appearances since making his debut last month.

Of all the clubs chasing his signature, it is the Blues who are pushing hardest to try and get a deal done next month.

Manchester City and Tottenham are also in the hunt after making regular checks on Lookman, who was playing parks football last year before being picked up by Charlton and fast-tracked into their first team.

The Championship side are hoping to fend off the top-flight trio by offering Lookman a new long-term and improved deal.

His current contract ends in 2017.

Looks like a late developer in the talented 97 age group to further strengthen the group though he probably will still struggle to get in. Rise bears similarities to how we are picking up Tracey coming through low leagues getting picked up but then really kicking on. Would really like Solanke though, think he could be everything we need in a 2nd striker, doubt Chelsea would sell to us though

Looks more of a left sided wide forward than a striker from the vids. But interesting prospect

Love the direction and vision our manager is taking. That along with dime experience is the way to go.

With this guy and Shilow Tracey on the books, we have the potential for the coolest sounding attacking lineup in the world in a few years.

I wasn't aware until now that Charlton were sponsored by the University of Greenwich...big news.

I remember Curbishley once saying "why would a player go to Spurs over Charlton?"....why indeed...

"The Premier League side expect to ratify the signing [Shilow Tracy] in the next 24 hours and will then turn their attention to completing a deal for Lookman."

I certainly like the direction the club is moving in. Signing talented, young individuals that have the traits that Poch requires. If we can sign 1-2 of these type of deals a year, it will allow us to bring the most talented of the group through to the first team. This will reduce the amount of "game changer" transfers in the £15-£25M range that we will need to pursue.

Love the look of this kid. I've started getting more excited about these types of signings than the talk of the "big deals" nowadays.

I was staying in the same hotel as the Charlton players when I was in Brighton in December. Considering I am far from rich, it's clear that Charlton have fallen a long way.

I was in the lift with 3 of them at one point. I wonder if one of them was Mr Lookman.

Hey we should do a Brcelona and start stockpiling all the kids and young talent we can find. If I heard right on TalkSport they have signed 77 youngsters recently

The annoying thing is it was this strategy that helped us move from Mid table average also rans to constant European football. We started it with Pleat and Jol and then forgot about it under Harry to some extent and AVB completely. Love that we are going back down the English youth route and have a manager that attracts these kind of players.

It's important to note that he describes himself as an attacking midfielder or winger and not a striker as many media outlets have described him. With that in mind, 3 goals in 10 games from the wing is a brilliant return for kid still so young.

Shilow Tracey is also more of a wing forward rather than a striker.

Tottenham hope to land young Charlton forward

Tottenham Hotspur have explored the possibility of signing Ademola Lookman, 18, and allowing the forward to stay at Charlton Athletic on loan. He has scored three goals in nine Sky Bet Championship appearances this season. Tottenham expect to secure the arrival of Shilow Tracey, the 17-year-old midfielder, from Ebbsfleet United. He played in two youth matches on a tour to Florida last month.

Definitely a positive shift in transfer policy.
There have been various articles based around how Pochettino prefers to promote from within, utilising youth players for their natural athleticism and willingness to listen and learn, allowing him to mould them into players that fit his footballing ethos, rather than having to retrain an older player who will no doubt have cost more and be a lot more set in his ways.
Would definitely like to see Velkjovic given the backup CB/DM role to Dier, and Carter-Vickers trusted to step up if/when Fazio leaves, plus Ball when he returns from his loan spell, as that appears to have fast tracked his development. Then place faith in the likes of Pritchard and Onomah, also Oduwa when he returns, to negate the need to sign a replacement if/when Townsend leaves. Tracey and potentially Lookman looming further back with Harrison, Sterling, Edwards etc. Walker-Peters also on the horizon at RB, Winks at CM etc etc. plus there was talk of a similar buy now and loan back deal for Rico Henry (Walsall LB). Dele Alli's successful scouting, transfer, and subsequent performances appear to have shunted us back in that direction. The way he has been handled and given opportunities, will surely make us an attractive proposition when these players like Lookman come to decide between a number of clubs. A strong core of young English players will be a tempting path to follow.
