Promising election. Maybe with Poch in charge we see one of them this season in the first team.

I've heard that Harry Winks and Nathan Oduwa are two of the most promising prospects. Besides that we'll need WindyCoys (aka Chris Miller) to give us the low down :)

I'm trying to think when the last time was that we produced a player with a genuine chance of holding down a first team place for more than a few seasons.

Rose is clearly being replaced, Caulker and Livermore were sold, scores of them farmed out to lower division teams.

Townsend is the only one who could do it IMO, but even that seems unlikely judging by the absolute pelters he gets on here!

This World Cup has genuinely made me concerned about where the new crop of youngsters is. Frankly, if they were good enough they'd be playing. It very much seems like we just develop them for maximum profit.

You would have to go back many years to find one where more than one youngster got promoted from the youth ranks. Last year we had Townsend, Bentaleb, Kane, arguably Naughton plus a few short sub appearences from some others, and I may have missed some. If we get some youngsters that aren't good enough for us but who we can sell on, it shows that the accademy is working and paying for some of it's costs at least. That is a real positive.
