The problem, thar the number of quick CB (quick enough for Ange) is small. Dragusin is a good defender, but in the high line he is not such an effective. Either Ange adapts his system or he goes as I cannot see how the club will provide him with the pacy CBs.

He is 20.

If he feels like he will get more game time here I could see him picking us over Madrid or City.

Look at Bergvall and Dragusin. They chose us over Barca and Bayern respectively.

Maybe just me, but seems he loves to dive into tackles which puts me off a little.
ITK about a bundesliga defender, can only think it could refer to Tah, Tapsoba, Hincapie, or Itakura 🤷🏻‍♂️

From athletic this morning

"What else we’re hearing
Manchester City are exploring a deal for Abdukodir Khusanov. Other clubs hold an interest, too, with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur aware of his talent and availability. Lens are looking to do a deal in excess of €40million, which means Tottenham are not expected to battle for the 20-year-old defender as things stand. Newcastle have tracked and identified Khusanov for some time but the current reality of their financial situation makes a move unlikely, despite the player being admired and fitting the profile they want to recruit. The agent Jorge Mendes has a mandate to deliver Khusanov’s sale in this window and will be working to secure Lens the best possible fee for a raw but promising talent. David Ornstein"

So the price started at 25m, mendes gets involved and sees city millions and the price is now 40m.

He's had like half a season in the French league, would be a big gamble for the price

I love how as soon as the price gets to a certain point it's just widely recognised that we won't be involved. Too rich for our taste

and when I say love, I, of course, mean hate.

In all seriousness, 40m euros + does seem steep but then we paid near enough 50m for Archie Gray after 1 full season in the Championship. If this lad is as highly rated as this and has so many clubs after him then perhaps it's worth the £35m gamble. Just saying.

I think steer clear of anyone with links to Mendes, that fucker always seems to string us along then shafts us.

The 15M disparity in asking price is probably mostly Mendes' agent fee!

(partially joking, as not sure if this level of agent fees are still legal?)

Aw I’m sure Mendes has his way of getting that money some way or another. Guy moves players and managers round in his sleep - do one deal that benefits him now and he’ll help you out down the line, which of course will still help him too.

This.. the same happened in the summer with Doue. And similar last January with that Scandinavian winger that almost went to Brentford (though not quite the same level as city).

I'm with the club on this 40m is what we paid for Archie Gray and that was not usual for us. One 20 yo CB with half a season at 40m or Bergval, Yang, Sarr and Vuksovic?

Or the same price as VDV? Only 10m more got us Romero. Dragusin 25.

People can have a crack at our scouts/Lange but from Paratici onwards we have really beefed up our signing of top young talents and it seems we're still doing it.

Didn't we very recently beat big clubs to Grey, Dragusin and Bergvall? If there is one area we do actually compete, it's signings like these.

I’m still massively sceptical we are even looking at him. Seems like all agent bollocks.

Along with him City are supposedly also after 2 players I wish we went for in Marmoush and Ederson of Atlanta. These 3 would revolutionise our team imo. But of course we’ll just get some stop gap loans :(

What is wrong with "stop gap loans" in particular with an option to buy?

Kulu, Bentancur, Romero, Porro, Lenglet, Werner, Danjuma, Gollini, Fernades, Vinicius, LoCelso were all loans?

Since 2020 those are the players that were "stop gap loans".

Now it looks like half of those worked out for us with LoCelso being the only one that we brought and didn't really work?

I think this is a pretty much water tight idea to bring a player in for a period, see if they work and if not don't take up the option unless it is part of the deal being an obligation to buy.

On the other hand we could always blow sixty odd million and two hundred odd grand a week on the next N'Dombele.

Fans need to realise that a loan isn't a cheap way of buying a player, it's a very good way to try before you buy.

Werner the one hundred percent perfect example. Available when we needed a winger, cheap in the current market and no big risk. Imagine had we spent his expected transfer value last season without a loan period?

I think the new City sporting director (Hugo Viana) is a Mendes disciple so imagine we are going to be stitched up or led on to inflate the price. Move on, think there’s other options.
