Skipping past his age, if he's good enough, he's old enough. Coming from the French league, he could adapt or not. As a potential replacement for Romero if he does leave, sufficient?

Or do we sign another another CB in the summer if his nibs does go, and if so what does that mean for the two youngsters out of loan and Dorrington. I guess more loans, maybe at higher levels for them if poss.

We seem stacked with potential at CB but we also need some senior quality back there.

I'm pretty sure we won't be looking at Ben Davies as a senior option next season, I know Postecoglu respects him highly but he'll know we need to have other options so I guess this is feasible.

Widely reported that we're offering Davies another year so I'd say it's very likely he will be a senior option

Yes I know about that but I believe we think his presence is as beneficial as anything and he'll be a superb cover for any new introductions. I honestly think he will be here in the future in a coaching role and maybe sooner rather than later.

These are also the sort of deals we all wanted us to look at no? I certainly do. Not that i know much about this lad in particular.

These are the lads Brighton/Brentford/etc pick up and we all moan when they want stupid money a year later after a good season.

Think the problem is that we’d like these sorts of signings alongside some ready made first teamers.

I agree, and I think our summer business was too youth centric, but if we are looking at a CB, it makes sense to buy someone up and coming rather than someone established as long as we've got Romero, VDV and Dragusin. I don't think CB should be a priority at all, though, with Davies and Gray as capable bakcups and Vuskovic, Phillips and Dorrington all waiting in the wings.

Don’t really care how old he is, so long as the view is he has the experience and ability to contribute right away. Looks like a good fit for the system and having another CB with exceptional recovery pace would be fantastic.

I like the look of him and agree with the "good enough=old enough" adage, but I do worry about adaptation from Ligue 1 to the Prem...

Also I must have missed the chatter of Romero being off in the summer - can anyone find an on-topic way of recapping this? plsandthanx

The only young players I'm interested in seeing us sign now are those that can contribute to the first team immediately. In other words more like Micky and Udogie and less of Bergvall and Yang.

Happy to sign him as a future option but the player we should be signing if Romero goes is Guehi IMO.

If Romero is off and Davies is doing another year then I would expect this will be our options next season:

Porro Dragusin Van Der Ven Udogie
Spence Vuskovic New LCB Davies

with one of Dorrington or Philips as the back up to those.

No major chatter aside from a couple of rumours in the press. People have just been assuming he’ll be off to Madrid in the summer.

We need Brian from Brentford. Show the money Danny boy. He transforms our team. That would be a we score more than you signing.

In other words we end up weaker, always pointing to when the younger players will mature we'll be awesome, the prophecy never fulfils

There should be no talk of Romero leaving and a LB to compete with Udog should be signed asap

Along with a ready made RW

Two signings that should have been made in the summer but were not

We never sign any ready made players unless there is economical benefit e.g. Madders (from relegated team), Bentancur (unwanted)

We do, Solanke being the most recent- but too few and far between- never enough to actually sustain a challenge. The Scum came up just short, so spent 200m.
