Hopefully at some point City will be sanctioned and we won’t have to compete with a club who can just buy who they want, when they want, and zero risk. It’s honestly ridiculous.

Not sure why people are too bothered here. Even if both turn out to be incredible CBs we still have VDV, Dragusin, Vuskovic, Philips, Dorrington, etc. plenty of young talent there. I’d be more gutted if both were LBs!

They're acting like it's a FIFA career mode save, just sign them all.

Isn’t that what some fans want us to be??

To be honest I'd be surprised if these lads are anywhere near as good as Gray is.
I don't think we need to worry too much about the youngsters that other clubs are signing, when we've already beaten them to other young players with high potential in the same positions.

I would expect every single one of the following players to improve year-on-year for the foreseeable future (most for 5+ years):

Kinsky (21), Vicario (28)
Vuskovic (17), Phillips (18), Dorrington (19), Dragusin (22), VDV (23), Romero (26) - do we have any reason to think that Khusanov and Reis are better prospects than these?
Udogie (22), Spence (24), Porro (25)
Gray (18), Bergvall (18), Sarr (22)
Moore (17), Yang (18), Odobert (20), Johnson (23), Kulusevski (24)

Obviously we won't retain 100% of them (I would guess Romero & Vicario will be the first of them to leave), but we've certainly made a good start on building for the future. As has been repeatedly speculated on in other threads, we would probably benefit from signing a couple more players currently in their prime, to help strengthen the team and also to act as role models for the youngsters to learn from.

City wanted Vuskovic but we got him so not too fussed. Some you get and others you don't. Gray has shown if you're good enough then you're old enough. I think we'll be seeing Vuskovic next season anyway so not fussed about a centre back. I would only go for one if Romero agitates for a move in the summer but I would probably go for one with more experience. Left back is more important right now.

City apparently wanted Gray too! We can't sign every player and while he looks a great prospect, I've also read that he could be very raw.

My personal opinion is that this is the first window I've seen City look a little desperate... it seems to me they're surprised by the decline of some of their aging players and now rebuilding, but at a pretty penny.
