Hello Spurs fans.

Probably the wrong place for this thread but I hope you will indulge me for a moment. Ive done my fair share of trolling and acting the maggot on here and on the old COYS forum over the years but i need a minute of your time.

As a child I supported Aston Villa for about two years until I was about 7 years old and then my uncle introduced (forced me to follow) the mighty Spurs.

We were very close in age ( only 5/6 years apart ) so I did what ever he told me and I was forever more a spurs fan.

After a family disagreement we fell out and hadn't spoken since around 2012 . We never got to speak about Bale, Poch, Modric , Kanes rise from the ranks or the champions league run. The night of Amsterdam I knew he'd be watching and i'm sure he had a wry smile on his face thinking of my reaction to mouras third goal as I did about his.

I awoke to the news this morning that he took his own life yesterday aged 40 leaving behind a girlfriend and daughter . He lost his own father (my grandfather) only 8 weeks ago (a funeral I didn't attend due to the aformentioned family disagreement) .I don't know what he was going through recently or what lead him to that decision.

He was a Tottenham fan through and through and his favourite player was Teddy Sheringham growing up.

His name was Andrew and he was a yiddo
depression is a scourge. Suicide has struck very close to me as well. Im sorry this happened, there isnt anything good that comes out of it as far as I can tell.

Very sorry for your loss.

Suicide grief, in my experience, is like normal grief only more so. There are more questions, there is more guilt, there are more fractures in relationships and so on. It can bring a family closer, or it can tear them apart. In my families case it tore us apart.

If you ever need to sound off or vent, there are lots of us willing to listen and share our experiences. Whatever you are thinking and whatever you are going through, you are not alone.

RIP Andrew.

Mate so sad. I’ve had a couple of people in my family commit suicide and it’s horrible the devastation it causes. Thoughts with you and your fam mate.

My condolences for your loss.

And a message to anyone out there in Spurs Community.....If you need to talk to someone, talk to us! Open a thread and share your story, share your feelings and what's going through your head. We may not be able to solve the problem but you'll soon realise that we are mostly all in the same boat and we all have to deal with the same sh*t in life.

From personal experience with mental health concerns, i've always found the folks on here super understanding and really helpful in hard times. We all need a community sometimes so don't be afraid to make Spurs Community the community that you need!

As Paddy said only last week: "I'd rather have a mate crying on my shoulder than be going to his funeral"
