For all the doom and gloom merchants
Before yesterday
Spurs at GW 15, under Poch:
2014: 21 points GF18 GA21
2015: 26 points GF25 GA12
2016: 27 points GF24 GA11 av=2.56 for rest of season 86
2017: 25 points GF23 GA13 av= 2.65 for rest season 86 points

(or 2.63 after Stoke)

Last season we managed to average 2.56 points per game from GW 15 onwards or put slightly differently from the last 23 games we got 59 points.

we do that again now post stoke ie 22 games 56 points and we will end up with 84 points.

After that It does not really matter what anyone else does. We will be top 4 with that points total and most likely top 2.

With Vic and Tony back soon and a possible Barkley incoming whats not to like?

The key is keeping everyone fit once Toby and Victor are back. Lamela *is* like a new signing, and if Llorente kicks on he will be a real asset when Kane needs resting. Once the CL starts again in Feb we need to make sure it doesn't distract the players the same way the games against Madrid appeared to.

Agree we need our injured players back and that would be most welcomed but your heading for disappointment if you think Barkley is coming in January.

The problem is, we look like conceding goals against pretty much anyone no matter how bad.
In other seasons we've had a solid defence to build on. And, it pains me to say it, all the other big clubs just look more able to consistently get wins than us. It's great that Arsenal and Chelsea dropped points this weekend but will they do so more often than us? I'm not sure.

I'm very, very worried about not having Toby for an unknown period of time.

Our home record last season was more than excellent.
The Wembley factor will continue to impede our progress.
Top four will be a real achievement
especially with Cl to come in the New Year.
I am hopeful but not confident.
Surprise me Spurs.
Please.
Or there could be knock on effects with staffing.
CL in the new stadium is my dream.

Is the season over then ?

Must have missed that (y)
Hey, this thread calls for perspective as it stands now. And one of those perspectives is that we have performed as good (or bad) as Burnley. You may not like it, but you can't act like it's not as valid perspective as anything else.

Have we played exactly the same teams home and away as burnley have then? Also have Burnley played all their games at a neutral venue? Burnley will finish much lower than us this season. I would also wager we will finish above Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool by the time the season ends.

I think we'll finish top 4 at the end of the season, too. But so far, we haven't been better than what we have, and there is no reason to dress the truth up in nice clothes and pretty make-up. We've had some crap weeks of poor results, and those are the facts at the moment, regardless of "perspective".

And as far which teams each has met, that's unimportant. You can only beat (or underperform against) the teams that's put in front of you.

Which all evens out at the end of the season, so why waste time moaning about it now?

I agree entirely, but then why waste time with several threads about the same topic, which is trying to disprove have poor we've been for a few weeks? It's the end result in may that matters, not any excuse in December.
