I do think people get overly obsessed with trophies, although equally I understand why.

Winning a trophy gives you the day out, gives you that one release of triumph and ultimately gives you a tangible prize. But if you measure your success only by trophies, about 99% of teams in the country may as well give up.

We won a trophy under George Graham. We won one under Juande Ramos. And in a hearbeat I would exchange both of those for the position we currently find ourselves in.

We've done magnificently to (hopefully) finish 2nd when yet again we are financially below five clubs in the division. Yes you don't get a trophy for it, but if Arsenal win the FA Cup at the end of the season, I can still categorically say we've had a much better season than them.

We went out of the FA Cup to the best team in the country right now. It was hardly a disgrace even if it was disappointing.

Our European efforts were the most disappointing for me as that was where we never really seemed to get going, and that is something we need to work on for next season.

But come one...we're the second best team in the country and behind a team that has basically paid it's way to get there yet again. Yes we want trophies, but surely we can enjoy the success in the meantime?

Assuming these are the strongest teams, the total appearances shed some light on why they've won the title;

Courtois 34. Lloris 31.

Alonso 29. Walker 32

CAhill 35. Toby 27

Azpilli 35. Dier 33

Luiz 31. Verts 30

Moses 32. Rose 18

Matic 32. Wanyama 33

Kante 33. Dembele 27

Pedro 32. Alli 34

Hazard 33. Eriksen 34

Costa 33. Kane 27

Fabrgas 26. Son 31

William 31. Davies 20

Effectively without Toby, Rose, Dembele, Kane for 8-10 games and we still ran them close.....
