We can secure 2nd without playing. City have a game against Palace and we know what Big Sam can do, Liverpool have Southampton who they've struggled against 3 times already this season...

Few weeks ago we were laughed at for daring to get within 10 points of Chelsea. Now it's for failing to get within 1 point. We have an excellent team. Don't be ashamed to find the positives after a shite day in the office. We still have 3 big games to play.

I remember the impending capitulation when we had that bad spell in Feb. You know, when we were going to get embarrassed by Fulham because we'd just lost to Liverpool and Gent.

How did our season pan out after that just out of interest?

We have made huge strides forward and let's not forget, there would not be a title race without us winning all those games this season, we are the only team that even made it a title race.

That being said, it has been far too long without a trophy now, that needs to change next season, I don't care what we win but we need to win something.

Also, I really love Poch and I love how he has this team drilled, he is the glue holding this team together and the only reason we are where we are right now but I would love to see a more aggressive side of him when dealing with the press and match officials, that's the difference between him and Ferguson, he needs to bring out that side of him that we all know he has.

I think we should go all out for the league cup. If we draw a hard team then play the first team. Dele is banned for the first 3 CL games so he can start the early rounds with the like of Son, Winks and Lamela. Get us to the semi final then play the first team.
Let's get the first trophy with this group wrapped up in Feb.

Spot on!

The League Cup isn't even that hard tbh. We are just guilty of throwing it away - as are most top teams - by putting out reserves and not taking it seriously.

There's no glamour about the League Cup but it's been too long since we won anything and we're not in a position to look down at a trophy.

If it's perspective we're after, then let's have a look at this post from RAWK on January 1st. Not only were Chelsea nailed on, not only were Liverpool the only team who could feasibly catch them, but we weren't even mentioned among the teams who didn't have a chance. Even allowing for the standard one-eyed delusion of your average Liverpool fan, that is testament to how far we have come in 2017. So, yes, tonight is disappointing, but it's only disappointing because we've been so immense since New Year's Day....

They are 10 points clear for City and 9 clear of Arsenal. Neither of those two are pulling that type of lead back in half a season. Not on this Chelsea team. 49 points from the first 19 games. Insane pace.

We're the only ones capable of stopping these."

Tonight was desperately disappointing. But shit happens. In If you offered me 2nd at the start of the season with the football we'd played Id grab your hand off.
check this out in the telegraph. We are the 2nd highest points per game 2nd place team in the history of the PL.
This team has improved like mad on last season, Chelsea and Pool had no euro football. Klopp Guardiola and Mourinho came in. We are in it for the long haul. i f we get 2 and may be 1 point from the last three games we are 2nd.
Just need to go 1 better next season
Keep the faith.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/0/premier-leagues-best-second-placed-teams/tottenham/

We have had a good season no one can deny that but I don't think we can go one better next season due to factors such as Wembley, where again a venue we just can't/Don't perform at.
Then there is the other big 4/5 clubs around us who will get their acts together and be amongst it again which probably leaves us back in our normal territory of 5/6.
We can keep making excuses for this season and last seasons failings but again we just always fall short when the opportunity of glory is close at hand, last year a small club wins the league, this year it's back to normal with Chelsea winning it and again in the semi we as usual under performed.
I said after the semi-final defeat on one of these threads that the title race would be over in a week, as I thought we would struggle against palace and arsenal but we managed to prolong it by another week.
Poch and the players will naturally be disappointed but they must find a way of coping when teams press us like they did last night and season before which Liverpool also keep doing to us

One win and we will secure our highest finish in 40+ years.

I'm gutted that we didn't win last night, but I am far from a meltdown like I was last season. :ROFLMAO:

Every season we somehow manage to defy the odds and keep progressing and getting better, I think we will bring a trophy home next season, be it a cup or league, and I'm so happy and grateful to be watching a team develop as well as ours has against all the odds.

What did piss me off was how the commentators literally only spoke of us bottling the title.

Let's be honest, we are the only team who have been in the race all season with Chelsea, shut your fucking gobber and appreciate how far Spurs have come as a team instead of trying to act like you knew all along this would happen.

It grates me that everyone, pundits, commentators, rival fans, everyone bar us supporters and everyone at the club want to see us fail and take pleasure in us losing. It was the same in the game against Chelsea, this will unravel Spurs season, I don't think they can bounce back from this defeat in the league, etc etc. It's getting boring now.

That and the Wetspam supporters were what really got my blood boiling, not the fact that we lost the game, which is only our 4th loss this season. I'm still proud of how far we've come and nothing can take that away from me.

Coys!!

Having now lost to Wet Spam and probably out of the title we have to show real heart and make sure we finish second and not crumble away like the previous season. We can't repeat what happened last season when Arsenal had stolen a position on the last day of the season 2016/7, we must not now allow Liverpool to do us.

This season has been a achievement, we have finished above Arsenal - that hoodoo was necessary to smash and if we finish second ( very unlikely we can win the league) a position we haven't achieved since the EPL started would be a success.

Secure 2nd and that's a continued improvement Year on Year. For a while now I've thought the gap was too big given Chelsea's run-in. But we always had to retain hope. So, looks like we won't make it to the title, but we can still make sure we're the best of the rest. If the media want to say we bottled it, so what, at least we got closer than all the other media favourites.

1. Bounce back and secure the win against Utd for our final home game at The Lane. Then finish the final games as we've done all season.
2. Get the summer business right, both in terms of timing and personnel. Balance the squad for our preferred formation, 3421 seems to work best for us.
3. Get a good preseason done at Wembley so we break this supposed mental barrier, and make next season there the same fortress WHL was this year.

Then we go again, maintain that upward trajectory. Be positive, finishing second this season will still be an improvement, let's not lose sight of that.

Or when Kane was injured against Millwall at the start of March and we were going to slump to 6th...

What fucks me off is that we must have known that spammers would play it like a cup final same as last year, yet we seem to allow them to stop us from playing rather than be in there face from the off wanting to smash them that I don't get.

Yeah we crumbled in the NLD last week as well...
Aresal are the weakest mentality team we could play. If fans think we don't have a problem when it comes to the crunch are dillusuonal. I wouldn't back us to beat Watford in a cup final next week
