Some of you lot are jokers, we got maximum value for 2 players who wanted to be away from the club and we going to be negative influences if they stayed... £52million for those 2 and you think we did bad business? Jokes aside good bye and good riddance to them no players are bigger then the club and Ramos now has a dressing room full of players who want to be here.

Ramos is getting together the squad he wants, which has vast potential and its clear to see as a team we are moving on, rest assured Ramos will be able to build on this squad so why the negativity? Profit or loss in this window we have clearly got a better squad now then at the start of last season...

If it wasnt for the dodgy Zenit board we would have a replacement for Keane and the glory hunters among the fans on this site would be singing Levy's praises... But as we aren't spending £30million on each transfer and we are actually doing it the right way slowly building up the team get the men Ramos thinks can do the job and clearly addressing any problems we may have slowly but surely people are sayig Levy is just a business man in it for a profit, for those fans please let me make a suggestiong go out and buy a man city shirt or grow up and think about this window logically

I just hope Man city have so much money they won't be after the same players we are. You know the sort of player I'm talking about young enough with enough potential to sell on in a few years at a healthy profit.

Long live Tottenham Hotspurs PLC.

re the whole Arshavin/Zenit thing, true it appears they did mess us about & we'll never now how far down the line BUT the whole point of Comolli is to manage these situations.
we shouldn't get to Aug 31st, be let down & have no suitable alternative!
If Arshavin wasn't signed by, say, first game of the season, move on to the next best thing on Comolli's long list of 2nd strikers.
You can't tell me Fraizer Campbell was on our radar at the start of the window so why now?

No, they're not the same type of player at all. Which I'd say is a pretty good thing.

GDS was signed before Keane left so whilst he can play as 2nd striker, I'd say we still needed someone else

I respect Levy for what he has done, but he has turned us into a stepping stone club! Its a complete joke!! He has made a laughing stock out of this club, withdrawing his complaint against Manure just cos they bought him! And it seems quite obvious Campbell was a last minute deal, surely he is not the answer to our attacking problems?

FFS

In the same way that Arsenal was a stepping stone for Overmars, Petit, Anelka, Viera, Hleb.

Same way Barca were for Figo. And Madrid were for Robhino. Was he sold for football reasons ?

It's a feeding pond and considering we have never had CL football we are probably the shrewdest motherfuckers in that pond. Somehow we have managed to spend 60+ million after spending 30-40 million the last two windows. Despite no CL, despite no 60K stadium, despite a wage ceiling.
We have managed to atract some of the best footballers available this summer. We have done great deals on the ones we have sold. Deals that will insure we continue to invest heavily in the type of quality footballer that we have signed several of this summer.

"When it is played at its best football remains the greatest game of all.
And Tottenham, so close to my heart, is still to me the greatest club."Bill Nicholson

I thought those words came from Arthur Rowe, not Bill Nicholson. I wonder... which one was it?

I would probably agree in terms of needing someone else, but i think GDS was signed knowing that Keane was going to be off.

To bad they're not the same type of player then. If Pavlyuchenko could be compared to one of Spurs strikers last season it would be Bentish

I'm sorry mate but that is just rubbish. Pavlyuchenko is like a cross between Shearer & Sheringham. Heis two footed, quick of mind, good in the air and technically pretty good. Everything Bent is not.

yeah think as far as fincial clout is concerend you have to say even with MAn city's take over Spurs are still in the top 4 clubs capable of spending big. 1# City's middle eastern billions 2# Chavs russian billiions 3# Man utd's mass revenue 4# THFC

Liverpool, Ar5ena1 don't have the funds at all it seems and Villa are only reletivly wealthy comapred to how they were. they still can't justify several 15+ signings a season let alone a few 20m+ ones. newcaslte and everton are on decline and Portsmouth are about on limit and more and they have to sell or they burst.

Only QPR getting promoted or *Liverpool finally getting bought out bu the maktoun's willdemote us out of the current top 4 interms of cash to buy.

*i predict the maktoun's will act fast to try and get liverpool again, to "keep up with the jones'"

Having only seen him in internationals, I'm loath to pass comment. He's certainly two-footed, though. However, Bent is no slouch in the air (and, unlike certain ex-players I could mention, not afraid to risk a boot in the chops in order to get his head to the ball); he won a lot of aerial balls on Sunday—just a shame that no-one had the wit to get into a position to get on the end of them.

I get the feeling that Pav will compensate for Bent's weaknesses and bring out his strengths. Could be an ideal combination.

And hopefully, they're both the type of player who'll be pleased to wear the shirt, get on with the job and not faff about whingeing and blaming every other bugger if the ball isn't presented to them on a silver plate.

It depends what you mean by that. Are we going to see the odd flashes of pure brilliance? No. Are we going to see the lacklustre couldn't-give-a-shit I'm-too-good-for-you-lot poncing about? No. We offload a posing petulant overrated prima donna for crazy money and people are complaining?

fair points 57 :)

I wasn't meaning to have a go at Pav

as you probably know I was a big Berbs fan - but I take your points and have defended Levy in getting £30m for him

as I say I'm certainly not complaining about Pav and will be supporting him and all the 'new Spurs' wholeheartedly

I always saw Arshavin as the replacement for Keane and Pav as the new improved Berbatov (but now with added work load). Dos Santos at his age is not a serious 1st team player for the whole season, but could be useful. Frazer (cant bring myself to call him Campbell) is a Defoe replacement, trying to break in to 1st team.

Is Dos Santos 2 footed or left footed?

We'll defend better from the front and there will be more of a collective responsibilty with that pairing. Will it make up for the lack of skill? will that come from other areas?

Pav has some pace. He's closer to Adeybors pace than crouch's. In fact i doubt Adybeyor could run down Serigo Ramos like Pva did in the euros. We'll see.

"He is almost the complete footballer. He can do different jobs - he can play with his back to goal, he can win it in the air,” a delighted Ramos told The Sun.

I know it's the sun, but if ramos rates him he must be worth having. complete footballer seems a bit much but he should let the whole system work. the real talent is in midfield anyway

I think Pav could be a great signing. Better than many realise. Like I said, imagine a slightly quicker, slightly more fox in the box Teddy Sheringham and you're not far off.
