No idea about the acuracy of this article.
Firstly, is Bale really on 110k per week? Find that very hard to believe.
Secondly, Levy doesn't own Spurs.

There's definitely a lot of supposition and the figure of 110pw instead of, say 100 sounds like somebody being deliberately exact to look like ITK

Levy is the second biggest shareholder however, after Joe Lewis. I think I read 29% somewhere.

I also had no idea someone very close to him is very ill
his mother died recently, but I believe this is his wife. May be wrong but I am sure it has been mentioned before, the two closest people to him.. it's a tough time.

Regarding a takeover, there is a lot of money in the EPL (of course) and with the new TV deal there is even more flowing in for the foreseeable future. Most economies are pretty f*cked right now, except in the Middle East where developments continue unabated (I live in Muscat, Oman). Companies are part owned by the governments, the investment arm of the governments in most of the Gulf nations is very active - especially Qatar. They have many reasons for it; WC2020, a desire to branch out into the world, diversify the economy away from oil, change the perception of the Arab world in the West.. others, I'm sure.

Al Jazeera is a Qatari station (it means 'the peninsula'), probably the fastest growing network in the world. Tonnes of cash to throw around, expanding into the US market, taking over the football rights from Abu Dhabi Sports for the region, they have studios in London where their English language broadcasts come from (Gary Lineker is the CL host and they use Sky feeds).

If you look at the English clubs it's easy to say we are next in line, if there is a line.

Man Utd has to be the benchmark for aspiring owners. Even before the Glazers, United were huge in the Asian market. Their merchandising revenue is ridiculous. Indian TV has a LOT of stuff featuring them and DHL, it's been driving me insane during the Euro coverage. Airtel have been promoting a football school/talent search show too.

Of the others:
Man City, Emiratis.
Chelsea, Russian.
Arsenal, American/Russian
Liverpool, American.

All relatively recent. That leaves us. Ripe for the picking, you could say.

Interesting that the talk is about Kuwaitis though, they have just (or about to) bought Nottm Forest. Difficult as they are buying from an estate, rather than an individual. The Al Hasawi family is minted, of course.

IF, stressing if, Spurs are going to be bought by Kuwaitis, I would guess it'll be the Kharafi family. Among other interests they own a HUGE company called Americana, it has exclusive rights to a bunch of American restaurants (KFC, Pizza Hut etc http://www.americana-group.net/Our-Brands.aspx) in the Middle East and an annual turnover of over $1bn. The Kuwaiti Dinar is the highest valued currency in the world.

And there you have it ....

Pre season games in America, all timed with the launch of the Under Armour brand and the launch of a new owner.

But how rich are these Kuwaitis?

Immensely rich.

Of course it may be an American owner for the reasons you mention above, AEG or Bloomberg perhaps. Who knows.

Correct, I do! All of my 100 shares are safe.

Enic own 85% of spurs according to wiki, and Enis is owned by Lewis and Levy.

frankly... as soon as ENIC delisted Spurs from the stock exchange, i always thot it was possible that they are looking to sell the club. or at least be open to potential buyers.

don't expect us to be as lucky as Man City... actually i thot they would suffer under Thaksin.

Both Chelsea and Man City have benefited from mismanagement. Makes them easier to buy as the sale is always quicker when there is a deadline.

Or, speculative bullshit.

Im pretty sure its going to happen maybe not in the next couple of weeks as these things take time ( especially at spurs :) ). We have so much potential with a big fan base and stadium plans also a decent team already, Ideal for investment!

Investment, yes, absolutely—we're getting an awful lot of suggestions that there's big money coming our way, probably in an inflated naming rights deal. Take-over, no. I don't think the valuation will be anywhere near high enough yet.

My friend used to be head chef at Spurs, he always said that Levy wanted to sell when we had the stadium sorted and were in the CL as his wife wanted to move to America, don't know if now counts as we missed out on CL and with the death in the family.

Now could be a good time with the new TV deal.
