Miracle? This squad is more than good enough for that.
Hmm more games for starters. Our rivals have all strengthened. We will have to rely on youth a lot more, which will be more fun to watch, but there is going to be errors.

I personally think we will really struggle this season, not with just how the transfer window ended, but I really do not rate our attack.

My honest assessment of our attack..

Son is too inconsistent, I think people see that he’s scored goals that he’s still the player he once was 3 seasons ago, he goes missing far too often and is supposed to be the captain! Werner tries and gives his all, does cause the opposition some problems, but you wouldn’t bet on him to score more than 5.

Kulusevski had a good pre-season, let’s see if that form continues, not sure what the point of Richarlson is, other than to go out and run about a bit, Odobert is an unknown and the less said about Johnson the better. Solanke I hope makes a difference this year

No team lines up against us and is overly worried about our attack.

I really do hope he plays mickey and for Bergvall and Gray to become regular first teamers and that they have found a player in odobert.

If West Ham and Newcastle have a good start and continue I think it’ll be a real struggle for 6-7th.

Don’t think we’ve done enough in the market to finish in the CL spots.
Let’s just hope we take the cups seriously.

I think where we finish will depend more on how good or bad other teams are, rather than us being much better or worse than last season. We've got too many good players for a a disaster, but as we saw at Leicester we are still too vulnerable to be consistent. I think will get around 70 points and that could be good enough for 3rd or could be as low as 6th. When we finished 3rd under Poch in 2015/16, we can't take too much credit for Chelsea finishing 10th or Liverpool 8th. The same could happen this season, but as a team, unless a couple of our youngsters really hit the ground running, I see no obvious reason for us to be notably better than what we've seen in the last few years when we've finished 4th, 8th and 5th. Chelsea and Liverpool have new managers, Villa have to juggle CL football and Utd don't seem all that great and I think how these teams adapt will impact our league position more than any significant improvement or decline from us.

Id be extremely disappointed if we dont get well over the 70 mark this season, finishing top 4.
Well over 70 points has only been achieved by Poch in our modern history. It's interesting that early posts in the thread, not just yours, suggest well over 70 as a minimum expectation. Poch also had 2 seasons on 70-72 pts, along with Redknapp, AVB, and Conte.

Interesting to see this. The Poch era was way out ahead and everyone is chasing, and failing, to reach that mark since he left.

Seems unrealistic to me, albeit it should be the goal. I hope Ange can get us back to the level Poch had us at, and beyond. But I won't hold my breath for it this season.

We'll be in and around 4th/5th/6th. We'll also take a tonking here and there

Wouldn’t say Newcastle and Villa have strengthened much if at all, will be interesting to see if Chelsea get the points deduction being talked about. United I’m still not sure about. Think Liverpool city and Arsenal will be the top 3 again.

Im not saying we’re going to romp it, I just don’t think it’ll be a ‘miracle’ if we get top 5.

I'm going all in on Bergvall being seen as the Premiership signing of the season by the Summer.

After the transfer window cant see higher than 8th. Not a hope in hell of a trophy either. Suprised if Ange sees out the season.
On what possible basis other than a desire to be as miserable as possible is that a reasonable prediction?

We haven’t lost anything important from last year. So even if you don’t rate our signings (personally I think solanke will be a clear upgrade in our system as a 9 and I think all 3 youngsters will contribute this year) you’re expecting us to get substantially worse as our young first XI play a second year in ange’s system.

Do you think our rivals just stood still this transfer window and didnt sign anyone? We are nowhere near the quality squad wise to compete, we were ansolutely awful for the most part the second half of last season and we only played the min numbers of games. The extra games this season with more fatigue and potentially more risk of injuries could kill us. We needed obvious upgrades that didnt arrive. I hope im wrong but honestly suprised u cant see why someone would be concerned.

I read this on X, more colour to what I am thinking:

My frustrations at our window are justified I think

- We finished 5th
- 23pts behind Arsenal
- Lost 6 of our last 11 games
- Conceded 61 goals which is more than Everton and Crystal Palace did
- Just snuck in at 5th ahead of a rejuvenated Chelsea
- Got hammered, not beaten, hammered by Brighton and Newcastle
- Out the Carabao Cup in the 2nd round (August)
- Out the FA Cup in the 4th round

Yet the board and the scouting team looked at all this and thought signing just one 1st team improvement could resolve all those issues and we will make top 4 again this season

Unlike the other big 6, we didn't even have European football to juggle with in our schedule and thats after going out the Cups really early too! We had a really easy schedule last season and still couldnt cope

And we're all meant to believe just Solanke being brought in as the one 1st team improvement is enough work done?

I think we’ll finish 8th but will be less than 20 points off top. We will win the Europa League and one of our youngsters is going to play so well in the early rounds that they become a regular starter for us and make the premier league team of the year.

Is Odobert not a possible first team improvement? I think he is. I think you are too pessimistic.
