Pretty nasty looking opening fixture away from home at a promoted club on a high coming into the season.

But, as ever, everyone has to play everyone so it's largely a non-issue in my eyes.

Get the squad sorted and just beat everyone.

Easy.

Leicester still don't have a manager do they? Nobody knows how they will shape up following the summer window and pre-season. Could be completely different from the way they got promoted. We also generally have an alright record up there.

Start how we did last season we'll be fine. It's the mid season when Europe kicks in that worries me. We need better luck with injuries.

An opening game against a newly promoted side is nearly always shite. Those sides often have long troughs in form during the season, but start off with a few surprises and a spring in their step. Those sides often ship 6 points to many other clubs. We don't want to be one of the ones that fall well short of that.

Hopefully we rise to the occasion and get off to a strong start again.

Happy with that for a set of fixtures, potential banana-skins have all been avoided:
  • Away on Boxing Day so can watch on TV without arguments from the wife for going to the game
  • No New Years Eve/Day game
  • No game on her birthday
  • No game on my birthday

“We have been uniquely screwed by the fixture list this season because the league hates us” day is my 2nd-favourite day in the SC calendar.

Second only to “omg the home kit has a red sponsor on it!!” day.

Excellent.

That could be a lot worse, though I guess you could look at it both ways. Very winnable games after Europa matches, or matches we should be taking maximum points from hampered by Europa fixtures a few days before.

Choose your poison.

I'll let you know once the Europa fixtures are out.

Will be nice to have some consistency and continuity this season with more fixtures and less start-stop. I like Arsenal (H) after the international break, that is until 2-3 of our important players get injured during it.

I think January and February look particularly exciting with the reverse Arsenal fixture and both Manchesters at home with some other winnable matches

April/May run in probably a little trickier than it could have been with Chelsea, Liverpool, Wolves, West Ham and Villa all away in our last 9 fixtures
Compare that to Man City’s last 10 games. All easy games with 6 of them at home. Might as well give them the trophy now.
How come we always play Chelsea and Liverpool away second. We are always at Anfield around FA Cup SF time?

I went all the way back to 1969 and then got bored, if the game is played on the 26th I believe this is the furthest we've ever travelled for a Boxing Day fixture.
I think I remember playing at Coventry on Boxing Day in the ‘90’s

Looks like Steve Cooper will be in charge of Leicester for the opening game. We did well against him at Forest.

Well I can guarantee we'll be pushing for the title to the final day.

Getting married 25th May 😬
